Look you! This book was long in the making - and it came about through Sam Dolbear and me rewriting, eating neon food in the Bundesarchiv and undertaking extraordinary visits to the son and daughter-in-law of our main subject, Walter Benjamin's childhood friend Ernst Schoen.
