“Give me an LLM that’s good enough and a test suite on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” Archimedes, circa 200 b.c.e.
Thank you Opus 5.5 🫡 Kinda wild that I vibe coded a slop port of the LANGUAGE ITSELF and got a 3x reduction in typechecking

I wanted to test modding in Project 8 so here’s @tomjohndesign in-game
Welcome to Tomjohnville. tomjohn.design I built a bunch of new portfolios over the last year. Hated all of them. I've told other designers that these should feel like a playground, not a portfolio, and nothing I made felt playful enough. Decided that it was finally time to follow my own advice. So I made my portfolio a game. It's got my whole career. Every place I've worked, with actual people I've worked with for characters, in the real buildings (well the @vercel pyramid isn't real but it should be) and details about my life. Drive my real truck. You can even tow my real camper. (more with this coming soon) Read everything I've written, watch videos I've made. I've uploaded way more work here than I've ever had online in one place before. There's secrets, inventory, achievements, and soon there's gonna be missions. Come on by. Have fun. And don't forget to sign the guestbook.

A new era of gen UI and always-on Claude approaches. Can't wait to see what people build with 5.5!
Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released. On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Claude Haiku 4.5.

Your Slack group DMs can now include Claude. Add it the same way you'd add anyone else. Claude answers in a thread and keeps following it, so anyone in the DM can reply there and reach it. It can also use the personal connectors of whoever asks.

Fun fact: We actually built our AI emoji picker @dubdotco with Jev at first, but since we had to feed the entire emoji catalog into Jev, it consumed a lot of input tokens. Refactored to a simple vector index on @upstash vector, and costs became nearly negligible 🤯 Just shipped this to prod – h/t @pedrooladeira 👏
You don't need Jev for good emoji search maxleiter.com/blog/embedding…

Yes, I’m aware. Hiring tens of thousands of human auditors to audit more paper taxes is insane. That’s obviously not a good solution.

Am I crazy for thinking most Jev use cases can be accomplished with similar quality faster and cheaper by using embeddings?
Linear is next level: they integrated Jev into the emoji picker already and it’s AMAZING (This is response on a thread on how Google Docs’ emoji picker has been the same unusable mess for ~20 years; the ✅ icon still unfindable on my free and paid accounts)

Claude Tag in Slack can now use your personal connectors in channels and DMs This means it can access your email, calendar, and MCPs with a really fluid-but-powerful approval system, and no org admin setup. It pairs really well with Opus 5.5!

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately @jaredpalmer @shuding
We are actively working on adding support for @OpenAI functions to the @vercel AI SDK. So far, we think there are 3 main UX flows that need to be addressed with the new function API: 1. Automatically execute the function 2. Automatically execute the function, but show intention and progress to the user 3. Only execute the function if given user confirmation By covering these flows, we should be able to dramatically simplify building rich UIs for AI agents
