The 'friendship recession' is now at the centre of British politics.
I gave the keynote in Parliament last night for the Great Friendship Project, a NGO set up to solve young adult loneliness
👀 16 - 34 y/o's are now 3 x more likely to be chronically lonely than those 65+😬
Men are facing a ‘friendship recession.’ And it’s making us miserable. But what can men do about it?
👣 Our guest in this episode of The Inbetween Man is the evolutionary anthropologist Robin Dunbar, probably the world’s foremost expert on friendship...

When my wife offered to pay for me to see a stylist, I realised I was a sartorial basket case.
I am not the only bloke with a wardrobe problem.
👀 So, in this episode of The Inbetween Man, I explore why many men have such an ambivalent attitude to fashion, with the help of men’s stylist Sarah Gilfillan.
And yes: she takes me shopping.
Ever wanted to be a Bad Boy? Ever snogged one?
In the latest episode of The Inbetween Man, I explore s*x and the modern dating scene through the ubiquitous cultural trope of the ‘bad boy.’
Helping me make sense of it all is Hayley Quinn, the UK’s most in-demand dating coach - and former ghost writer for some of the world’s most infamous pick-up artists.
The rise of male childlessness - and 'social infertility.'
If you think about infertility or childlessness, chances are the stories that come to mind are about women.
But recent research has found that it's more likely to be men who aren't able to have children even if they want them - in particular lower income men.
These men's stories reveal a huge amount, about modern masculinity, modern gender relations, and even the modern economy.
I explore them in the latest episode of my audio series, The Inbetween Man.
Featuring great insights from @RobinHadley1 and @RobertNurden
🍆 Problems on the male side are the cause of infertility in 50% of cases.
🚨 Chaps, have you ever checked the health of your swimmers?
🧨 In the latest episode of The Inbetween Man, I explore male infertility. If you want to know what a sperm test actually entails, listen in - I recorded mine! (Thanks to the Male Fertility Clinic London for taking part.)
👶 The episode is called BABIES and it's all about men and the choice about whether to have a baby or not. Obviously, it's not always a choice for many people - including men. But we don't often hear this story…
👨👨👦As psychologist Jean Twenge has laid out, recent generations tend to pursue a ‘slower life strategy.’ In short, we do everything later – marriage, home ownership, and kids.
🗣️To quote Canadian demographer Lyman Stone, ‘A generation ago, couples would have children along life’s journey but now a baby is seen as the final tile put on the finished edifice of your life, when you’ve seen the world, got established in your career, ticked off other dreams.’
🥛Men and women alike are leaving starting a family late into their thirties and beyond. In my mind I was quite relaxed about this: guys are fertile for ages! Just look at Al Pacino!
Here’s what I didn’t realise…
👀Fewer than 2% of men registered as fathers are aged 50 or over. Typically, sperm health declines from the age of around 35.
Of all the subjects we covered on the series, this was perhaps the most personal to me, and the most surprising. Check it out. 👇
