In the wake of the Yankees getting swept in the ALDS, a lot of talk will be about if they will fire Aaron Boone.
As a reporter who has covered the team for a while, I don't believe they will. Here's what I think they will point to.

From the #Gr8:
ALT My family and I decided this summer that this will be my final year in the NHL. I love this game so much, but I know in my heart it’s the right decision. It was important for me to make this announcement before our first home game, so I have the chance to thank all the people around the game, everyone who has been so important to me and my family and helped me through good times and tough losses. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve everything I have in my life without them. I am excited about this season with my teammates, and we will do everything we can to make this year special. I am going to enjoy every moment with my family, my boys, our fans and everyone who has been part of my hockey career. See you Wednesday, babes!

Alex Ovechkin announced to his teammates this morning that this season will be his final in the NHL
I love a Yankees dismantling of the Red Sox - but second place is watching Brother @JeffPassan dapping up Cody Bellinger like they’re best friends. Fantastic

John Mozeliak’s transparency so far in his short tenure as Angels interim GM has been refreshing for an fanbase desperate for clarity. It’s also different from how he operated as POBO of the Cardinals.
That is intentional:

A boy decided that his visit to an Austrian concentration camp was the perfect time to wear his Dalal Mughrabi Free Palestine shirt.
Dalal was a terrorist who helped hijack a bus filled with Israeli civilians, including children. She and the other terrorists murdered 38 people on that bus, 13 of them children.
If it isn't immediately obvious why you shouldn't wear a shirt with the face of a woman who killed Jews for being Jewish at a former concentration camp, I can't help you.

I try to stay apolitical in my profession of war studies, I really do, but the anti-Israeli grift in American politics is sick. Even if you don't care about Israel. Have no clue about the benefits of the Israel-American relationship (there are many). Hate to hate. To see political candidates make anti-Israel one of their primary political positions, in the United States, and get votes for that, to play on ignorance about Israel, the region, the different fronts rather than real domestic issues like economy, safety, opportunity or foreign policy issues like great power competition, terrorism, energy, national security, waste/fraud/abuse in the international institutions. Rather, to play on clickbait lies rather than hard truths. It is sick and continues to put American jewish citizens, communities in danger.
It’s Lombard’s second game. I was hoping he’d get a hit but I’m not lumping him in with the rest of the offense. Kid needs some time. How about we DONT shit on him for not coming through there

The way the Yankees mishandled Anthony Volpe will be used as a textbook example of how to NOT treat a prospect for years to come.
Tell him from the jump the job is his no matter what. Brand him as the future of your franchise even though he hasn't earned it yet. Refuse to try him at new positions when he struggles. Run him into the ground to prove a point even when he's clearly gassed.
Three years later, he's back down in the minors stuck with no future direction as they try out their new shiny toy. Complete and utter disappointment all the way around- and frankly, not really his own fault.
