♀️ 👭 On the International Day of Women and Girls in science, we'd just like to reflect on the progress made in our little corner of the global scientific community. 🙋‍♀️ It's no secret that women make up a small proportion of the HiPEAC community, but female participation in HiPEAC events has been growing, representing 22% of the participants at #HiPEAC25 and 23% of those at #ACACES24. At HiPEAC 2025, female talent was spotlighted in a range of workshops – special shout out to the organizers of the 'From petascale to exscale and beyond: The Centres of Excellence challenge' and the @mar_whpc workshops for their diversity discussions. 🤩 We are lucky enough to have keynote talks and classes by world-class researchers at HiPEAC events, inspiring the next generation of women and girls into computing research. Recent examples include Margaret Martonosi, keynote speaker at #HiPEAC25, Cristiana Bolchini and Hyesoon Kim, who taught at #ACACES24, and Reetuparna Das, who gave a keynote at #HiPEAC24. (Don't forget you can find full keynote talks on #HiPEACTV). 👩‍🎓 Thanks to an incredibly dedicated team, HiPEAC has been reaching out to female students and encouraging them to consider a career in computing research. Student-specific activities include the HiPEAC STEM Student Day, HiPEAC Student Challenge, careers panels, information sessions, and more, while HiPEAC also regularly participates in female-focused events such as @ACMwomENcourage .
