Now, we have both and they are both owned by Elon!
AI works best where its output can be verified. Code either works or it does not, so an AI coding model is able to learn from every error.
But there are many different types of verifiable data
In some areas, verification is arrived at by consensus. In others, through adversarial negotiation. But these sorts of ground truths do not exist until they are arrived at through a process that humans have to participate in.
These are the skills we need to impart to our young professionals — how to arrive at a consensus, and how to hold ground against pushback. These are the areas in which human expertise will most likely survive AI dominance.

A new book means I have to make time to sign dozens of copies and exercise muscles that in my predominantly digital universe are dormant by default. @WestlandBooks

What does it take to cross the absorption frontier?
Three things: data AI can read, systems AI can act on, and outputs that can be checked against ground truth.
The third may be the hardest—and the one every sector will have to build for.

Quick take on the green card ban for top IT firms - a blessing in disguise ??
Near term: Chaos and disruption - ability to hire, retain, deploy H1B talent will be challenging as it was always a pathway to citizenship. People who have green cards will be in demand
Long term: POSITIVE. Will lead to extreme offshoring, centre of gravity and decision making will move to India..
Among the many things I do, few give me more pleasure than serving on the jury of the NIF Book Prize.
This year’s long list is out and it’s a cracker.

A forgotten diplomat who helped shape India's place in the world. A khayal singer most of the country has never heard of. An empire of fraud running out of small towns. A constitution that was argued over in the streets long before it was written in a hall.
Ten books with almost nothing in common, except that each one leaves you knowing something about this country you did not know before.

The claim that every AI query consumes half a litre of water is perhaps overblown. But data centres carry real costs that are felt most by those who live near them. India's draft data centre policy needs to address this.

If AI is the transformative general purpose technology everyone claims it is why are more of us not feeling its impact already?
In my latest long form essay I attempt an explanation.
rahulmatthan.com/other-writi…
Generative AI earned $110 bn in the year to June 2026, growing three times faster than mobile or the internet did. Yet only 1 in 20 enterprise pilots have produced measurable value. AI supremacy will not be achieved by building the best model but by how it gets absorbed.
A country that has crossed the absorption frontier can take advantage of verified data only it controls. It has more flexibility to determine which model it needs for what purpose and on what terms. It changes from being a supplicant to a State that must be courted.
Real gains will only come when we tear down workflows built around the scarcity of human intelligence and redesign them around what AI makes possible.
And that is only possible at the Absorption Frontier.
