Excellent thread, including this gem: "just keep showing up. When things fail & the going gets tough, staying engaged in the work is already half the battle."

Very long-awaited, but we're very excited to share Candice Byers’ published work in @embojournal highlighting the impact genetic background has on differentiation bias in mouse embryonic stem cells! 🐁🧬 @jacksonlab @TuftsGSBS tinyurl.com/a6rwp4s9 (a 🧵)

ALT Synopsis of study: We used diverse ESCs and differentiated to EpiLCs and EBs to identify variation in cell state transitions (top). We find that genetically determined chromatin states bias differentiation, with B6 toward neuroectoderm and D2 toward definitive endoderm (middle). Lastly, we used QTL mapping to identify hotspots of trans-regulation of chromatin that impact pluripotency and cell state transitions (bottom).
Missing all my friends and colleagues at #SSR2021, but loving attending posters remotely: I don’t have to stand on tiptoes or adjust my bifocals! Thanks to all the poster presenters for their careful work and pre-recorded presentations.
