The Lost Continent Of Mu, by James Churchward. Paperback Library, 1972. Mu used to be a big deal in pseudoarchaeology. James Churchward was a Victorian inventor, engineer and traveller who moved to America in the 1890s. Towards the end of his life he began writing about a lost continent called Mu, somewhere near Easter Island in the Pacific. Knowledge of Mu was given to him by an Indian priest who showed him ancient tablets, written by the Naacals who had inhabited Mu some 50,000 years ago. Most ancient civilizatons were descended from its colonies. Less well known than Atlantis or Lemuria, Mu still influenced a number of pseudoscientific writings about ancient civilizations, as well as cropping up in various novels over the years.
