The less grumpy bit of @beztweets that's all about riding bikes. And other things. So not all about riding bikes. Can barely find time for it these days anyway.

We’re fundraising, walking 13 miles in filthy weather! Please visit justgiving.com/fundraising/s… to help our friend Ann convert her house so that Sebby can live more easily in it (or, less importantly, to vaguely reward my two reluctant offspring for getting cold and wet). Thanks 👍
Well, this is awkward. @1ookmumnohands have sent stickers that match @TheRideJournal’s bike, not mine 😀
I’ve always thought that “shitting through the eye of a needle” has connotations of accuracy and finesse that are somewhat at odds with reality. Why do we not use the phrase “firing a jug of Bisto through a basketball hoop”?
One of the less fraudulent but more dangerous aspects of the Superwheel is that when the system is compressed by the rider’s weight, the brake blocks no longer fully contact the rim and appear to stand a good chance of slipping right under it.
Welcome to Physicswang! Round one, and Julie to start.

I’m sorry Simon, that’s Fraudwang.
I’ve already seen it in a 1996 documentary about Irish tourist attractions.

One nice things about singlespeeds with cable disc brakes is that if you’re indecisive about whether you want to use flat or drop bars, it’s a 15 minute job to swap them.

It’s like watching a perpetual fruitloop machine. My only complaint is that I’ve got a massive bag of popcorn to use up and he doesn’t post often enough.

What you see in the bottom of a car tyre is deformation and relaxation of the carcass under cyclical load. This involves a process called hysteresis, which is… energy loss. (“Loss” meaning conversion to a form which is not used productively; in this case primarily heat.)

Crumbs. Where to begin? Let’s begin with the fact that the frictional force is what drives the bike forward. You don’t want a device that reduces that.
