Solar panels are sold with a 25-year lifespan.
By 2050 the International Renewable Energy Agency projects 78 million tons of solar panel waste.
Only about 10% of panels are currently recycled, with much of the rest facing landfill.
Moreover, that 25-year pitch assumes the panel survives reality. No strong wind gusts. No major hailstorms. No early replacement. No heat-driven degradation.
Solar panels are glass, metals, polymers, wiring, and chemical layers. Those components do not vanish when the subsidies ends.
Net Zero sells the installation.
The disposal bill comes later.
