This is good.
Lots of VCs kindof sound like this: "Your basketball team doesn't have a moat, any healthy human can throw the ball into the basket thingy. " People who have not run companies before don't understand how much the team matters more than some imagined structural moat.

While writing the Strong Federations paper, we discussed the very scenario that has played out in this recent attack on Liquid. The entire design process was focused on hardening the system against these kinds of threats, from controlling the supply chain of all hardware components to rigorous verification of all involved software. Blockstream's dilemma was that operating such a network came with significant regulatory exposure, while simultaneously holding an intellectual monopoly over the knowledge required to maintain any real application of the technology; deploying an instance of what the paper described would require a robust geographical and jurisdictional distribution, and thus resilience. The strategy was simple: transfer responsibility, legally, to the functionaries (Federation Members). Drawing on textbooks like “Adversarial Legalism” we toured the world, educating C-suites on why they would want to take on this burden — Bitcoin being the best money, it was (and still) is only a matter of time until all corporate accounting (globally) is denominated in and verified by Bitcoin. The Scaling War (or “The Block Size War” for the uninitiated) incurred a heavy toll on the Core Developers, my co-workers, and my friends. Vicious threats, physical attacks, and general exhaustion led to many of us burning out, departing for other opportunities, or retiring entirely. The brain-drain would continue as time went on, but for a while we were able to onboard Federation Members to take on the operational burden — but not without a modest monthly service fee to the business that designed it (contrary to those who claimed the business was to “squeeze” the Bitcoin network). It is possible that Liquid Federation Members could have detected the attack and independently refused to sign the withdrawal, or even circulated amongst themselves alerts or notifications of irregular activity. Detection and prompt coordination would have allowed the minimum threshold of 5 functionaries to withhold a signature, behavior that would be expected of the operators in such a network. It's not clear to me what education efforts have taken place since my departure nearly 10 years ago, but I do know that more widespread knowledge could have prevented this attack — an educated functionary would have understood the best move in this game. My hopes are that this event serves as a lesson, if not a rallying cry for anyone taking security seriously. Bitcoin is hard. Study harder.

Bitcoin's primary utility is censorship evasion. Iran has not yet been priced in properly, because we've whitewashed it far too much for corporate consumption. Make Bitcoin Cypherpunk Again. Hack The Planet!
The most fundamental currency in the universe is energy. We're spending energy to purchase security enforced by thermodynamic law (as opposed to man-made law). Bitcoin is not only the sole neutral option for Iran, but it is also the only logical conclusion; since 1944, the Bretton Woods Accord constrained the development of the global free market, hobbling any forward progress that such a unified currency would otherwise provide. The old monetary standard has reached its zenith; we must now transition our efforts to a truly independent money, which can only be enforced by natural law.

Don't lose the forest for the trees. The window to escape is closing. Move now or die forever. “...the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” — Alvin Toffler, Future Shock (1970)
People really miss what is fundamentally happening with technology right now. Between AI, at home scale manufacturing, Bitcoin, an arms race already happened. Not is happening, it's done. It's already happened. Forget agentic AI, AI alone will flatten specialized knowledged to every single person on this planet who is genuinely curious and motivated. The value of skills will implode. Aerospace Engineering degree? Lull. There will be kids in high school coming up with things Boeing engineers can't figure out. Manufacturing technologies have changed everything. If you aren't following the 3D printed gun space, you literally just don't understand it. These things are not toys. These are reliable machines firing thousands and thousands of rounds. They're not just 22lr, they're every caliber under the sun. They have .50 cals. That can dump rounds and be just structurally fine. People are building rocket propelled systems. A _literal high school kid_ built an assisted guidance RPG, with literal computer controlled trajectory adjustments in flight, completely oblivious to the insane litany of felonies he was committing. He literally publicly posted all of his documentation of the process. You might see things like microwave pulse emitters designed to shoot down drones being shown all over the place lately. Total waste of money. All it shows is that major geopolitical are completely fucking oblivious to what we are on the cusp of. Go look at your microwave. That little piece of metal with regular holes cut in that? That cheap ass shit? Yeah, that's literally all it takes to neutralize whatever insane pile of money is dumped into R&D and production for microwave defense systems. The cost of violence is going to plummet to effectively zero, and the cost of effective defense is going to climb so astronomically high that effective defense is not possible. THAT is the singularity that rapid technological progress is going to create. Not some delusional utopian fantasy, a complete upending of the calculus of projection of force. That's the entire thesis of the Sovereign Individual. This isn't _going to_ happen, it's done. It's literally just a matter of people realizing it. There will be no tit-for-tat, or arms race escalation. There will be the realization, and the immediate jump to the end of the race.

Bitcoin was designed for moments like this.

Wage theft is indeed the largest form of theft in America, but your figure is wrong — the correct number is $3 trillion, and you are one of the thieves.
The single largest form of theft in America is wage theft. $50 billion a year are stolen from American workers. If a billionaire amasses their wealth by underpaying their full-time workers so severely that they must rely on food assistance and government programs to survive, then no, that wealth was not earned by one individual - it was a wealth transfer subsidized by underpaid American workers and the public who get stuck with the bill for large corporations free-riding off our systems. The point is less about individual morality. It’s more about how our current economic reality of shattering inequality rewards screwing over workers and exploiting essential systems at scale. We’re talking monopoly power. Rent-seeking. Wage theft. Profiteering. Stock buybacks. Destabilizing housing markets. Companies using SNAP/EBT to underwrite their wages. Massive government subsidies or contracts to corporations following lobbying and dark money in politics with little to no oversight or accountability. Some people get enraged that I draw attention to this. That’s on them. Let them call me shrill, dumb, inexperienced, girly, uneducated - these folks will say anything to distract from or undercut the truth that working people are getting screwed, and giving people a fair shake means we must have a grown conversation about reigning in abuse of power.

the energy market was always going to be priced in bitcoin, because it’s a native energy token by design

Listen up, you fucking idiots. Bitcoin is humanity's last chance to shed the shackles of Central Banking. Without it, we are doomed to suffer under one Government or another, as they will be forever subject to the power wielded by those that issue the currency. There is no playing around anymore. There is no time for bullshit games or popularity contests. The enemy is very real, very present, and very active. Bitcoin needs you. Show up.
CFTC just dropped its full Innovation Advisory Committee roster.

In case it wasn't blatantly obvious before, it should be exceedingly clear now that the Central Banking Cartel sees Bitcoin as a direct threat — we are under constant attack by not only State actors, but also the puppetmasters that control their Governments. Humanity needs Bitcoin now more than ever. I spit on the names of my peers who sold themselves to the enemy we swore to destroy; you have betrayed not only the people who relied on you for protection, but also the wider mission of liberating humanity from the slavery imposed upon us by the Federal Reserve System and fractional reserve banking at large. We have fought many battles to achieve our position in this war, and there are many yet to come. Some have already given their lives to defend what we have created, and I am remiss to admit that there will be more to come. None of us ever imagined things would get this far, and yet here we are — secret agents, assassins in the night, and honeypots abound. Stand proud, Bitcoiner, run your node and keep it online throughout the storm. Financial censorship and de-banking is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to battlefronts, and especially now that the war is going kinetic you're going to need the freedom it provides. This may be our last chance before things really go downhill for civilization — which would bring a permanent end to our hopes of becoming a multiplanetary species. We absolutely must succeed, lest humanity be forever subject to the banker's boot. Don't let the cartel win. Stand up and fight. Run a node.

On paper, America was the closest thing to a real utopia that even an anarchist could imagine. Individual rights and freedoms were enshrined in the founding contracts, it operated as a competitive market between the States, and the Federal Government remained uninvolved in private life. When Andrew Jackson stamped out the first attempt to subvert this nearly-perfect system, he eliminated the national debt that had been incurred by socialist meddling and kicked off a golden age of American exceptionalism that forced the world to recognize the superiority of this model over all others. It only took 80 years for the collectivists to strike again, drumming up support for a 1% tax on the wealthy to fund a foreign war — a temporary measure that came with it the creation of the Federal Reserve, the poison pill weaponized against the public to usher in a new era of socialism in what would have otherwise been the land of the free. It was used to fund a series of wars that, in combination with a Government-run education system, replaced the strength and self-reliance of the American people with a new culture of dependency. Now, more than 100 years later, wealth redistribution has expanded to include even the working class, disincentivizing the productive attitudes that created the nation's economic dominance. National debt is at an all-time high, no industry remains untouched by regulation, and the population is still voting for the same authoritarian politicians who are paid in literal debt to an all-powerful Central Bank. If America is to be saved from the clutches of the collectivists, we must return to the federalist system that was the foundation of the nation's success. State power must again rise above the totalitarianism of the Federal Government, and the Central Bank must be abolished. In a truly free country, it is the individual which bears the full responsibility of how to spend the fruits of their own labor, and to which they owe the full measure of their duty. Anything less is slavery. Deus vult!
