.@airasia co-founder Tony Fernandes downplays news reports about his airline’s financial troubles and plummeting shares at a briefing in Bangkok. He denies any planes are grounded and liquidity is “catching up”, insisting the reported $1 billion debt restructuring is to reduce interests costs. He maintains an optimistic Q4 outlook thanks to strong demand and re-adding routes. Mr. Fernandes also denies seeking any support from the Malaysian government, which in itself denies reports talking to other airlines in the country to take over Air Asia’s routes and passengers as a contingency plan. “We’ve been through many crisis and have always come out stronger. (…) This isn’t an airline that’s in trouble. (…) We don’t need bailout, rescue or whatever.”
