The wildlife park should share some accountability. William Chapman deliberately climbed into Altai’s enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on 10 October after a woman tried to stop him. Altai did what a tiger does when a human enters its space. The park says he will not be euthanised. Parks have a duty to keep dangerous enclosures secure. If the investigation shows the barriers or procedures fell short, the park bears responsibility too. "He shouldn't have been there" doesn't excuse a broken system. The council investigation and inquest will decide how much, if any, responsibility falls on the wildlife park.
