With 90% vaccinated, let's not squander the gains we have made at such great cost. 1/9

We all understand the importance of the China border and the desire for two-way quarantine travel to China, but it should be abundantly clear to all by now that it is not going to happen any time soon. 8/9

We must leverage the high levels of immunity we have gained (at great cost), focus on the border we have control over, and resume quarantine free international travel (with science based, risk balanced, vaccination, pre-departure and on-arrival testing and self monitoring). 9/9
Hong Kong’s response to the threat of being denied access to their beloved yum cha. Vaccine mandates, as detestable as they are, clearly work. Six times increase in vaccine uptake rates amongst some elderly age groups.

Eight steps to move HK forward and towards a state of living with an endemic covid-19. 1/8 Full (not emergency) approval of both vaccines currently offered in Hong Kong.
7
8/8 Provide a mechanism for all vaccinated HK residents to be able to return home, no matter where they currently are.
7/8 Announce date for when HK will start to relax border restrictions. Start to relax at 70% of those eligible (no more 21 day Q; replace with 0, 7 or 14 days depending on risk of source country). Close contacts get 7 days Q + 7 days self monitoring, for fully vaccinated.
1
6/8 Announce that there will be no more extension to the vaccination program. A clear message that there is one month left to receive your 1st vaccination dose before the program ends.
5/8 PR the benefits of vaccination, and the risks of not. Show the sick and dying, patients on ventilators, long covid survivors. Send a clear message that the only reason to avoid the vaccinations is a known allergy to a component ingredient.
4/8 Recognise status of those vaccinated abroad, and allow inclusion in the HK vaccine passport and travel schemes, via antibody tests done in Hong Kong (or bilateral agreement).
3/8 Expansion of our 'vaccination passport' schemes; excluding those not vaccinated but able to be vaccinated from access to public services and high risk areas.
2/8 Mandatory vaccinations for those working in contact with high risk groups or in high risk areas (airport/port, care homes, hospitals, health care, front-line, food and beverage services, fitness centres, transportation, etc).
