Solar is the quickest to build 🏃➡️
But federal permitting bottlenecks are slowing the deployment of low-cost solar and storage and raising prices for American families. Every day Congress delays reform, prices, emissions, and grid instability go up.

Solar is making massive gains in Nevada, and helping to stabilize energy bills in the Silver State.
For America to meet our energy needs, we need the same predictable, durable permitting that's made Nevada successful.

📉 CA cut climate emissions again in 2024 — statewide emissions fell another 3.9% in 2024 extending a 20-year downward trend even as the economy continues to expand. Two decades after AB 32, California’s climate progress continues delivering real progress buff.ly/zLXsrJY

ALT Graphic of a line graph with the header “California’s climate progress continues: Emissions down, economy up. The y axis of the line graph shows changes in percentage since the year 2000, starting from -60% at the bottom, 0% a third of the way up, and 100% at the top. The x axis is the passage of time starting from the year 2000 on the left, ending at 2024 on the right. Three lines emerge from the starting point at 0%. The dark grey line shows a sharp increase of “Gross state product (GSP)”, ending just above 80% on the y axis. The global growth in battery this year is bonkers🔋
On paper, the batteries installed this year can every day store and release an incredible 34% of the growth in solar generation🤯
We estimate solar generation grows by 491TWh in 2026 = 1346GWh more every day than in 2025. An estimated 459 GWh of battery capacity will be installed this year, which is 34% of that daily solar generation growth.
But in practice many batteries will remain underutilised due to market design shortcomings.
Batteries can stack revenues across energy arbitrage, ancillary services and capacity payments. Realising this value depends on market design. Where batteries can access multiple revenue streams and co-optimise across markets, they are used more efficiently.
China illustrates the challenge. Despite being the world’s largest battery market, much of its battery fleet remains underused as regulatory reforms continue to open additional revenue streams. Standalone batteries cycled an average of 299 times in 2025, up from 146 cycles in 2022 but still well below international best practice of around 350 cycles a year. Meanwhile, co-located batteries cycled even less, averaging just 199 times in 2025.
Market design policy has got to catch up with reality on the ground.
