This is a brilliant analogy, and I would add that while single voters are constantly determining elections, single terrorists rarely do harm.
By Leslie Stahl’s logic, it’s wrong to require air travelers in America to go through TSA screening because (1) very few air travelers carry out terrorist acts (indeed, “the numbers are tiny”), and (2) mandatory TSA screening tends to “sow distrust” in the safety of air travel.

Although I am disappointed about Jalen Hurts and hope he will be okay, there is at least this silver lining: it has brought the "ack, the jab, blah, blah, Fauci!" contingent back into my life. Missed you guys!

Announced at faculty meeting that “France Has Fallen.” Was ruled out of order. I was not prevented from distributing free copies of Camp of the Saints or Buchanan bobbleheads, but few took one. The problem is more liberal weakness than the left itself.

For all the cynical pandering, I think there is an ideological core here. Vance is advancing a worldview in which the world is ruled by strongmen who espouse a "national interest" completely disconnected from liberty or self-government. It's a view articulated in this 2017 paean to Putin by NatCon intellectual Christopher Caldwell, who argues that while Putin is a terrible leader by American standards, he's an excellent one by "traditional" (i.e. pre-liberal democracy) standards of enhancing national power. imprimis.hillsdale.edu/how-t…
Vance: "I've never met Putin in person. I've spoken to him on the phone. He was calmer than you might expect. The American media has a stereotype of him. He's very deliberate and measured in his words. I think, at his core, he's someone who cares about Russia's interests as he sees them. One reason he respects the President is that he recognizes the President cares about the interests of the American people."

Don't listen to Hadas, a shill for hasty generalization who probably wants to raise your taxes. The real problem is the ad hominem.
don't generalize, people don't like it

At least the rash of departures in the Trump admin this week has exhausted the "now Marco Rubio has to do this!" meme.

Wow, this was so hard to foresee when Congress—including 30+ Dem senators and 50+ House members—voted to give Trump new tariff powers

Listen I get that people are concerned about "the economy." But you don't need to buy Chunky soup, which is high in sodium anyway. Gruel is versatile--choose the cheapest grain--and leave out the milk. Water is fine! Me, I'm still eating rib eye, but I'm a Kennedy, goddammit.

Me: "Don't you dare" sounds perfectly normal but "do not you dare" sounds ridiculous which is insane because "don't" is a contraction for "do not." Doctor: I meant is anything bothering you physically

I agree that the academic climate is different now, but the relativism in Closing is animated by moral dogmatism.
The Closing of the American Mind has some evergreen moments but one of the ways it shows its age is that Bloom is describing an academic climate where moral and cultural relativism prevails, whereas the academic climate today is marked by moral dogmatism and cultural orthodoxy.

Congress must pass a law giving DraftKings the right to have their own doctor inspect players, otherwise the integrity of the game is compromised.
The handling of Jalen Hurts' calf injury is fishy, and there's nothing to protect gamblers from not getting enough information about it.

This is wisdom. When the economy got rough, I swore off purchasing mechanical birds. I don't have Clarkson money. Meanwhile. I was at Acme and saw someone purchasing a $15,000 mechanical bird with an EBT card. This is the main reason I voted for Trump six times in three states.
RFK: People can go to the grocery store and not get the ribeye to save money Q: Do you have a favorite cut of steak? RFK: If I had to choose a favorite, it's a ribeye
