We were taught that Earth orbits the Sun in a closed circle. In reality, Earth has never returned to the same point in space once in 4.5 billion years.
Right now, the Sun is carrying Earth and every planet around the center of the Milky Way at 230 km/s (828,000 km/h), more than 18,000 kilometers every 80 seconds.
Because the Solar System is tilted 60.2° to the galactic plane and bobs up and down through the galactic disc roughly every 30 million years, the planets trace open 3D corkscrew helices across deep space rather than flat loops.
The last time the Sun stood where it stands today, one Galactic Year (230 million years) ago, the very first dinosaurs were only beginning to appear on Earth. Since forming 4.6 billion years ago, our Sun has completed only 20 laps.

Scientists have created one of the most detailed 3D reconstructions of a human cell (eukaryotic cell) ever produced.
This groundbreaking model, often termed a "Cellular Landscape Cross-Section Through a Eukaryotic Cell," combines data from X-ray tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and cryo-electron microscopy to map molecular structures in extreme detail.

Artist David Spriggs is known for his ephemeral installations that layer transparent images to create the illusion of a three-dimensional landscape.
Elon just said he's giving one SpaceX share to every kid in America next year. So I did the math 🐰
There are about 73 million kids under 18 in the U.S., so that's roughly 73 million shares. At around $140 a share, we're talking about $10 billion.
Sounds like a lot, right? Not for Elon.
Elon holds about 6.42 billion SpaceX shares, so after the giveaway he'd still have around 6.35 billion. His stake drops from 48.4% to about 47.9%, and his voting control barely budges, since his Class B shares get 10 votes each.
He also says it's "the first of many." At this rate, he could do it about 87 times before he runs out.
For millions of kids, this will be the first stock they ever own: a real piece of the company building rockets to Mars.
That’s an incredible gift to an entire generation, and a great way to get them excited about the future 🚀

Chris Rock just nailed one of the biggest problems with wokeness.
Helping people who feel marginalized is good. He says so himself. The trouble starts when a good cause becomes an institution.
The first few witches were real. Then you open a witch office. Now there are salaries, budgets and pensions to justify, and the office needs a steady supply of witches to keep existing.
That’s the trap. Once a cause becomes a career, solving the problem means losing your job. So the problem never gets solved. It just keeps getting redefined.
A system built to find wrongdoing will keep finding it, whether it’s there or not.

Absolutely disappointing stance from Metallica.
Saying nothing is one thing but totally turning and pointing the finger to the people who dare to speak up about war crimes, is disgusting.
Such a shame because I am a huge fan of the band 😔
