Every time I brought up skinny or oversized trousers here, the flurry of replies seem to suggest a general anxiety that I suspect stems from a fear of falling behind the current trend. That is why I have put together a short list of trouser silhouettes that are more likely to stand the test of time, either because they sit on the edge of mainstream trends or occupy niche spaces that are unlikely to see mass adoption. I have narrowed the focus on menswear, as womenswear offers far greater variety, though some of these suggestions may also appeal to those interested in androgyny.

Nearly every phone and computer on Earth relies on one plain-text file to know what time it is. When a country changes its clocks with a few weeks’ notice, or Morocco pauses daylight saving for Ramadan, someone has to update that file. Since 02005, that someone has been Paul Eggert, a computer science professor at UCLA, who does it as a volunteer.  Take a look at this great data visualization to see the full story:  na2.hubs.ly/H08qtQC0

MZ-E7W。MDウォークマン唯一のワイヤレスモデルですが、音は飛ばさず操作だけが無線になっています。時計型リモコンがユニークです。 #ウォークマン #walkman
Released in 2002, the Sony MZ-E7W was the first MiniDisc player to feature a wireless remote control, that also doubled as a wristwatch.

David Carson commented on my reel where I explain how I design my posters - he said “awful”. That’s how I’m learning about his work for the first time. It’s really good

commonly see people ask why pant hems ride up when you sit down. don't know how to explain this other than suggesting you should try wearing pants one day. will give you a new perspective on how pants behave.

If you’re producing music with ai & machine learning —> lean all the way into it, expose the wires, make it obvious, show us the ugly parts, show us it-being-itself. Make it glitch. Don’t just generate “glitch music”, or what it thinks is a glitch— show it Actually Glitching. Show it fucking up while trying not to fuck up. Push your process till it rips apart at the seams. Don’t rear view drive. Take us somewhere new, drive like a crazy person. Throw away the desire to become the idols of the past. Kill the rock star. The DJ. The singer-songwriter. This is hard. The controls exposed to you want you to rear view drive. It’s literally maybe the only thing it lets you do. It takes some genius to break it. Do the hard thing. Start with beginner’s mind. Trust your instincts. Reset.

literal hardest role to hire for rn and every ai startup wants someone > 35 to 42 y/o > healthy masculine > smart, funny, lighthearted > provider/protector mentality > post economic (still hardworking) > must be kind, generous, thoughtful > no kids yet, decidedly wants kids > on the healing path (history of serious commitment ex therapists, books, retreats) > can meet anywhere but will not date unless live in the same city > fit and sober because you care about your health > no prev marriages or engagements > works in tech (comfortable with risk and career is blended into personal life) such a small niche of folks who can do this

Ronaldo is such a unique figure because the greatest sportspeople of all time, in all history, have been winners. But nobody is prepared for what happens when sporting talent and dedication on a level only one or two people have ever matched is given to the biggest loser on earth
Replying to @MC_of_A
the core of the essay is a set of talking points which he gave to Jorge Jesus to read out during his press conference he says Jesus broke his word to Ronaldo by not staying to this script the talking points are incredible, I could not love this whole situation more

One of my favorite sites (ever): Requiem for a Dream by Hi-ReS! The site made you feel the same way as watching the movie. In 1999 and the early 2000s, there were no rules. Everyone just experimented and tried things out. Hopefully, we’re starting to get more of that back with AI. Alexandra (founder of Hi-Res!) writes about it on LinkedIn. And they recreated the site. Links in the next post.

If you can write CSS, you can write GSS { ● } I've been dreaming of this for years: a language to build 3D scenes like you write CSS. Selectors, cascade, :hover, keyframes… compiled to one GPU shader. Meet GSS: GPU Style Sheets. gss-lang.dev #shader #glsl #gss
