functionality → VITALITY Here is a comment made by a coach to me years ago… one I never forgot: “You know, Glicini, when you compete at 99%, you’re an average athlete.” He was right. Every exceptional athlete competes with a relentless mentality, motivation, and motor. Here’s a question that calls forth a better quest: “How exceptional do you really want to be?” IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A CHAMPION THEN THE WORK IS NO PROBLEM. Which word matters most in that sentence? REALLY. Here’s the root of the word, Enthusiasm: “the spirit of God within.” En theos means God embedded or divine inspiration. Beyond body-mind connection, which certainly exists, the exceptional embody spirituality, power derived from belief in a higher power. 99% effort is bad. 100% is a breeze. “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” — HT

Climb mountains > admire from afar all-in explorers > armchair experts “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.” Leaders lead insofar as they follow… Who’s our greatest role model(s)? Whose footsteps are worth following? Which trails are worth blazing?

Productivity opposes creativity. Do more volume when a strategy is working; do more variety when feeling stuck… Zoom in and repeat during flow; zoom out, explore, and fail often during times of “I don’t know.” The Creative Cliff Illusion: BREAKTHROUGHS follow breakdowns!

Indefatigable: incapable of being tired out, untiring, persisting with relentless energy.

“How long should we persist?” “Until…”

Higher performance comes from higher purpose. “What” is a skill we do. “How” is the way we do a skill. “Why” is the tenacity to do said skill.

AI generates content; humans create context. Content, through a large language model, includes lots of words, pictures, & videos. Context, through sentient beings, includes lots of emotions, meanings, & reasons. AI could replace a profession. AI could not replace a purpose.

Mind = Possibility Mindset = Set of possibilities Training our mind increases capacity to see possibility. The more we train our bodies, the more it can adapt, lift, and move. The more we train our minds, the less our thoughts get in the way. The trained see what’s possible!

Winners lose more than losers lose They “go for it” at a higher frequency Doubt: to hesitation Conviction: to conquer FAIL — First Attempt In Learning Fail, Learn, Conquer. Repeat! “In order to be a master, one must first risk being a fool.” — Jung

Healing requires self-compassion

Behavior → Thought → Emotion Lead with action to change feelings… rather than Thought → Emotion → Behavior Procrastination comes from succumbing to feelings rather than taking action. 5 words that hold us back: I don’t feel like it. 3 words that galvanize: Just do it!

Religion: that which is worshipped; whatever is valued most, adored and exalted, based upon our actions. We are all religious because we all value some people, places, and things more than others. The question that really matters: what do we value most? We get to choose.

peak performance: one’s full personality on display; the expression of who someone is at that moment in his or her life, through their craft; full, true, & pure self-expression
