Over 120 former Israeli ambassadors and senior Foreign Service officials condemn in the strongest possible terms the continuation of the acts of Jewish terrorism in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). The escalation of the ongoing harm to both Palestinians and non-Palestinians documenting the rampage, is a criminal act targeting innocent individuals and communities and constitutes a moral stain that will not easily be erased. It is causing unacceptable damage to Israel's foreign relations and international image—not to mention the loss of governance unfolding before our very eyes. The injuring of the Washington Post photographer who was brutally attacked by Jewish terrorists yesterday and today's assault on foreign diplomats, mark a new low in the crimes being committed without an adequate response from the government and security forces. These abhorrent and indefensible outrages are not Israel's way, are a profound betrayal of core Jewish values, are an unconscionable affront to basic human principles and dignity and are fundamentally inconsistent with the behavior of an enlightened country. This is nothing less than a deliberate assault on Israel’s political standing and its public diplomacy and poses a direct and significant threat to its national security. The former diplomats send their warmest wishes of support and encouragement to Heidi Levine, alongside a renewed call to the government to act without delay to eradicate these disgraceful acts of violence.

All general elections anywhere are crucial and of vital importance. But the upcoming elections in Israel are pretty much existential. Will the country continue its rapid descent into the abyss into which Netanyahu and his extremist allies are dragging us, or will we see a change towards a better future which will heal the internal societal rifts, and begin a process of justice and security for Israelis and Palestinians which may lead to a new future for both our peoples? I remain (highly cautiously) optimistic.

The US-Iran deal is a resounding failure for Netanyahu. The result of a policy of using military force as an end in itself devoid of any political horizon or exit strategy, even against such murderers as the Iranian regime, Hamas and Hizbollah is that agreements will be imposed from the outside.

The fact that Ben Gvir is a lunatic is not new. When a lunatic is made a Minister, lunatic actions are only to be expected. Hence, all blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the person who appointed him.

Elections in Israel are growing ever closer. It is the fervent hope of so many of us that we will soon awaken from the nightmare that this Government is, and that Israel will once again revert to the normalcy it so deeply deserves. Haters will continue to hate us and Hamas, Hizbollah and this Iranian regime will still adhere to their murderous aims, but only a leadership which puts the country and its citizens first can propel us and the Palestinians to a new future.

Netanyahu has once again led the country toward the path of self-defeat. If the war aims were not achieved, and they weren't, the war was lost from Israel's perspective, whether or not Iran did or didn't win. War isn't a soccer game, and there is no such thing as a tie.

The settlers running amok in the West Bank, carrying out almost daily pogroms, are terrorists. The government says nothing, their rabbinical leaders keep their mouths shut, the settlement movement leadership is silent. They are all complicit in murder and terror.

Our minds, thoughts and prayers are with the Sydney Jewish Community at this terrible time. This may not be the time for politics, but sadly, in the "haven of multiculturalism " this has been on the cards for some time and serious questions must be asked of the leadership, the police and the media.

Given Leon Bloom's Jewishness,before you know it, Dublin City Council will be banning the sale of Ulysses. Too many Irish have completely lost the plot when it comes to Israel and Jews. The civilised world should force these bigots into their irrelevant echo chamber, but continue engaging with those who may still be interested in dialogue, even if their number is dwindling.
