The full scientific explanation is complex and I get it that the main focus of the article was on the consequences of the heatwave and not itâs causes but the way that paragraph reads rn may lead ppl to think that climate change is not the cause of what we are experiencing in CA
Not sure âbout you but I a have a problem w/ swapping one global transboundary pollution problem for another one that hurts the Global South even further.
Is there a real path for sustainably mining of (or recovering) Li, Ni, Cu, Mn, Co at scales that match current demand?
Investing on #EVs is cool, but you know what is even cooler? Investing HEAVILY on efficiency: more #publictransportation, #walkablecities, #electricbuses, #electrictrains , #sailassist and deal with these âfrequent flyersâ for climate sake!

Can we finally talk about this sustainability crisis w/ some honesty? âCause this socio-economic system is broken yâall. Neoliberalism has failed us. Globalization didnât work out. Heat, fires, drought, flooding, conflicts, deaths. Sorry but tech & science alone cannot save us.
Also- not making this up- Power co. sent us all email asking us to unplug âourâ Teslas đ between 4-9 pm and to wait until the morning to run âourâ pool pump - bc everyone here is very concerned about #MemorialDay #blackouts. Meanwhile in Pakistan, 1200 people are dead. Dead.

Sure, âkeep it simple stupidâ is a great rule, but oversimplify our analysis into these superficial, binary, feel-good explanations for things like âwhy is the world the way it isâ and we end up stupider. It has never been just #gunsgermsandsteel⌠a lot of greed & denial too
The world would be a much better/ safer/ cleaner/ more fun place if people had the habit of asking themselves âwhat if I donât know enough about this?â before confidently voicing their opinion about things that they obviously donât know enough about to have an opinion on (yet).
