Here's our latest research on Antarctic Cyanobacteria published in BMC Genomics: bmcgenomics.biomedcentral.co…
By comparing two novel strains with Cyanobacteria from less extreme environments we were able to find stress resistance genes to likely underpin their survival 🦠🇦🇶

We are running a massive online open course on AMR databases starting end of the month. Its completely free, study at your own pace and its ~15 hours overall over the 3 weeks (although you can finish any time in a year). Please spread in your networks! coursesandconferences.wellco…
It's only a couple of weeks to go until #ISME19! I cannot wait to see all the awesome science going on in the world of microbial ecology 🦠🔬🏜️
Thank you @ISME_microbes and @Thuls_M for bringing this amazing conference to Africa for the first time 🌍
See you all in Cape Town! 🇿🇦

79 isolates * 2800 genes = a phylogeny that gives us important insight into what these fungi are doing... 🍄
It never ceases to amaze me how much data can be condensed into a single, meaningful figure- with the right analyses and visualization techniques, of course! 📊
New paper alert!🎇 Here we describe the novel species Mangrovimonas cancribranchiae (named for it's isolation from the gills of mangrove crabs 🦀🦠🧫). Great team effort @KAUST_News @RSRC_KAUST @marcofusi1980
