“The Keeper” folds an earlier chapter back into the record: Vitamin D’s scratch hook uses a vocal sample from “Third Person” on Melancholy Hopeful. One Be Lo handles the verses, with additional vocals from Bilqees.

“Earth Angel” was written by Cise Star as the unofficial sequel to Nujabes’ “Lady Brown.” After appearing on The Lone Wolf LP in 2015, it became the title track of Marcus D and Cise Star’s 2023 compilation.

“Pharmaceutic” was one of seven new tracks added when the Kickstarter-only Melancholy Prequel was rebuilt as Rising Sun Redux in 2017. The original 2011 version had been pressed as just 100 CD-Rs for backers.
