brooklyn integers has always held back issuing prime numbers in anticipation of its frequently rumoured “pro” service / meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports about mission integers minting NFTs to help offset nextzen (née @mapzen) infrastructure costs…

The @mapzen team is still working together, just at different companies now. @mapbox @interline_io @geocodeearth and @streetcredlabs all chipping in one way or another towards better street matching in Indonesia. Pretty cool
We used map matching from Valhalla, the routing engine developed at Mapzen, to find street names when reverse geocoding didn't work. Here's @dianashk streetcred.co/blog/2020/7/23…

Thanks for sharing. I launched a product today, that I worked on for 16 months and it wouldn’t have been possible without you and the team around mapzen. Sounds cheesy but it’s true. So THANK YOU!!

Great news! Like I say in this release, our newsroom uses Mapzen technology every single day to help journalists make better maps faster (and super cheaply!)

the short version is that the who’s on first spelunker is online again / the longer version is that we made it a little easier to build from scratch / and the long version is the long and twisty blog post we wrote about it all – whosonfirst.org/blog/2018/02…

5/ That said, there is a real need for a traditional geocoder based on OSM data! Perhaps someone out there would be interested in working with pelias maintainers to make it the starting point for an OSM geocoder. I'd be happy to advise on the best way to set that up.

4/ The Nominatim maintainers cannot take liberties with the schema or get rid of noisy data because they are building a search engine to help users find said noisy data. They can't include other data sources to aid in things like address interpolation or reverse geocoding.

3/ Expecting it to perform like Google or even comparing it to Pelias is missing the point (no pun intended).

2/ It's important to point out that Nominatim isn't a traditional geocoder. It's a search engine servicing OSM.org where people come to search for specific records, not query for pizza nearby.
