Face recognition went from premium feature to default. On-device face cameras now run for single-digit dollars a month per camera, and the law is only now asking whether a shop or landlord should be scanning your face at all.
The hardware price curve dropped a lot faster than the legislation caught up. That gap is where the privacy is.
