people fight about map quality over and over again, but there is no right answer to mapping, so create what you like. criticizing other people's creations will not improve the quality of your map, and it will not do you any good. ofc there are preferences, so just don't play a map you don't like. but if you really don't think the direction of the community is appropriate, please make a thread in a dedicated forum to air your views. I have many friends who have lost motivation due to these issues, it's really sad, so if you really want to criticize, please do it out of sight.

You are not entirely wrong. I like to map and nominate a wide variety of songs and maps. (like just check my profile?) None of the maps up there are meant for PP or for the majority of the players to enjoy (maybe Chiisana Koi no Uta, but not really.)

My recent flopping playcount don't really show anything other than... players just like what they like? The meta right now is clearly shifted towards aimslop and speed, so it's bound that everything else that is not PP or a popular/hyped song won't get many plays.
