I thought I was imagining that mass market chocolate had become completely inedible so I'd glad it wasn't just me. Finally, journalists are doing their jobs and investigating real problems again!
This past Valentine’s Day, 71-year-old Brad Reese, proud grandson of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups inventor H. B. Reese, posted a scathing open letter to the manager of corporate brand and editorial at Hershey, accusing the company of unforgivably altering many Reese’s products by replacing real chocolate with compound chocolate — basically using vegetable oils instead of cocoa butter to lower costs and replacing real peanut butter with “peanut-butter-style crèmes.” “And Reese wasn’t alone in feeling like everything was getting worse,” writes Rachel Handler. “Everyone in my life I spoke to agreed that something was amiss, that Reese’s — and commercial chocolate in general — didn’t taste the way it used to.” Handler would spend the next several months tumbling down a chocolate vortex, encountering dozens of eccentric characters, all disagreeing about the fundamental question of what chocolate even is and who it should be for. “I learned that — not to sound like a LinkedIn guy — what’s going on with chocolate is a parable for the modern world. That at this particularly bleak end stage of capitalism, everything we once treasured has or will lose its essential essence and MrBeast will always be involved somehow.” For our cover story, Handler takes a deep dive into the molten belly of the chocolate world. Even if male hormonal birth control was mainstream and effective, do y’all really want to leave your reproductive fate in their hands? Again, it’s absolutely a blessing to have control over it ourselves
Ok I think my tweet my be interpreted wrong I get what u are saying I really do but my intention wasn’t 2 minimize our milestones and freendom I was more focused of pain and systemic medical misogyny where we must alter our bodies while male contraceptives aren’t taken seriously

NATHAN FIELDER: This is one of the most famous comedy sketches of the last 30 years. *Plays SNL More Cowbell sketch* FIELDER: Now what was funny about that? *Pause* BERNIE MADOFF: They're a rock band. FIELDER: Yes but what's the joke. MADOFF: They have long hair, I don't know.

Why do people want this to be like some sort of informative piece of reporting on the facts lol. Why would Nathan Fielder ever do that, and why would anyone do that on something already extensively investigated and reported on, for that matter
whenever the masses claim a movie is the “best movie ever,” it becomes so glaringly clear that people wait to be peer pressured into engaging with art + culture. yes, the nathan fielder doc was good. but he did surface anything we didn’t already know? no. not really.

fascinated by the way nathan is able to highlight sympathy for elizabeth as a woman without contradicting the fact that she’s a bad and crazy person

it's funny bc "the second half spirals into something unlike anything I've ever seen before" is exactly what everyone said about S1 of The Rehearsal. he's done it again, somehow!!!!!!!
Nathan Fielder’s Magnum Opus. It feels like everything he ever made was just practice for meeting Elizabeth Holmes and her husband. The first half is an extended Nathan For You episode. The second half spirals into something unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.

Fielder and Oppenheim were aware of this, otherwise they wouldn’t have waited so long to release it. The film isn’t about that, it’s about examining why Nathan, and by extension we as an audience, are so easily taken-in by someone we absolutely know we shouldn’t be
The movie is amazing but this is also true

there’s a new nathan fielder meta commentary that blurs the lines between documentary filmmaking and narrative storytelling that’s supposed to be nuts

This isn’t really a problem if you go to a regular bagel shop instead of limiting yourself to the most popular local chains you saw on TikTok or whatever
you can’t even get a bagel in nyc anymore bc they’re all owned by private equity
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Many NYC bagel shops are independently or family-owned, not by private equity. The pictured shops (Leon's Bagels and Apollo Bagels) are run by their founders with no such backing. nydailynews.com/2024/06/05/nyc… whodoyouknow.nyc/p/behind-the-b… forward.com/culture/824095… nytimes.com/2026/04/14/din…

While it’s true some people dismiss astrology on misogynist grounds, I’m afraid that Le Guin said it best.
anti-astrology is always a veiled misogyny
