Always great to see more ambition in the physical world. Much more to do and they’re doing it
We’ve raised $80 million in Series A funding, co-led by the Valor Atreides AI Fund and Hummingbird Ventures, with continued participation from Conviction, Abstract, A*, and Grant Gordon. This brings our total raised to over $100 million. We started Watney by asking a simple question -- what can a robot enable in industries where the work remains valuable on an infinite horizon? We found an answer in the fundamental inputs to civilization: energy, matter, and intelligence. A robot will never be as charming as a barista or as personable as a housekeeper, but it can be more exacting than a surgeon. And, a breakthrough in one quickly becomes the capability of millions. We don’t imitate human motions or processes. We care about the new, differentiated capabilities robots can unlock. We work on problems where our choice of embodiment gives us an order of magnitude advantage, whether through precision, reliability, or scale. Compute is just beginning to transform society, but it’s constrained by execution. Since 2025, Watney has been serving the largest hyperscalers in the world, helping accelerate their compute rollout through an end-to-end deployment model. Across hundreds of thousands of hours in customer facilities, our systems have achieved more than four nines of reliability. They’ve enabled our customers to build data centers faster, at larger scales, and with more ambitious architectures. Today, we operate the largest fleet of dexterous robots running 24/7/365 across the United States. This is all to say, it's an exciting time at Watney. We’re all here because we want to see more ambition in the physical world. We are hiring across all domains. Join us.

If you ask me, this is pretty cool
I didn’t think autonomy would get nationwide-scale this fast... but here we are 📷! Our work with @HUMAIN and @TareqAmin_ will bring thousands of trucks to KSA. But this is just the start – followed by robotaxis, ports, mining, construction, and more. The size, scale and scope is unprecedented! Letssss go! 🚀🚀🚀

Think big. That’s always been a driving motivator for us, and now we have a partner to match our ambition. Today, we’re proud to announce Applied Intuition’s strategic collaboration with HUMAIN to deploy physical AI across Saudi Arabia, starting with autonomous trucking. This is a major step toward our goal of making a billion machines intelligent. Together, we will deploy thousands of autonomous trucks throughout key Saudi logistics corridors by 2030. This will make it the largest autonomous trucking network in the world, and our Self-Driving System and Vehicle OS technology will be the centerpiece of this collaboration with HUMAIN. This is physical AI at national scale. appliedintuition.com/blog/ap…

Creating robot intelligence is only half the challenge. Every “Physical AI” company needs an equal (and probably larger) amount of focus on actually deploying it onto their target hardware. Another one of our takes (but in video form)

Glad to announce our Series A, bringing on some incredible partners to support us in solving one of the fundamental problems in AI.
Today we're announcing our $40M Series A at a $400M valuation, led by @a16z , with participation from existing investors @8vc, @pearvc, and @BloombergBeta and new investors @HRTVentures and @nextladder. Alongside the fundraise, three more announcements: - Vals Smith: is now generally available. Anyone can create a custom coding benchmark from any GitHub repo with 120 free credits to get started. - Frontier Risk Benchmarks: We are releasing the RSI Index in collaboration with @CoreWeave and just launched ReverseEngBench, a new cyber benchmark built with Columbia University, Tufts University, UC Berkeley, and UCLA. We are also sharing our initial work in mental health, with more to come across environmental impact, military, and biosecurity. - Website + Vals Index 2.0: We completely rebuilt the Vals website and have released Vals Index 2.0, with coverage of more of the economy. Our revenue has already grown 8x compared to all of 2025. Our customer base doubled and the team tripled in 6 months. Our results have been cited in model cards from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and xAI. The AI economy runs on self-reported grades. When a model ships, the scores come from the company that built it. No other trillion-dollar industry works this way. Finance has ratings agencies. Medicine has the FDA. AI has vibes and vendor benchmarks. We built Vals to be the independent evaluation layer the industry is missing. Check out our new website and try Vals Smith!

We are launching Hone today. Over the last few years I had a front row seat to how AI has reshaped software engineering. Model progress exceeded my wildest expectations. Yet outside of engineering, most organizations struggle to derive value from AI. At Hone, we enable organizations to direct AI at their most complex business problems: AI that owns outcomes over weeks and months, not tasks. Read more about our mission at hone.com. I am immensely grateful to @ScottWu46 , @stevenkplus1 , @walden_yan , @russelljkaplan and all the friends at @cognition for the incredible journey and everything you taught me. Thank you for your support in this new journey.
Announcing Hone Intelligence has become abundant. Yet the world looks remarkably similar to how it did five years ago. With every model release, the gap between what frontier AI can do and the economic value derived from it widens. Closing the gap requires re-organizing work around organizational outcomes, not individual tasks. Hone builds AI that creates, orchestrates, and improves agents and software continuously to own organizational outcomes over weeks and months. We are ex-founders and early core contributors to Cognition, Mercor, Ramp, and OpenAI. We obsess over real-world value, not theoretical benchmarks. Our core beliefs on closing the gap in the thread below.

I’m honored to announce @thekaizenlabs $15m contract with the @DeptOfWar to build, power, and operate the new c-UAS Marketplace. This is a foundational win for our team, and marks our fifth Federal partnership in less than six months. More to come on that later :). Our team designed, built, and deployed the platform from a blank slate in 9 weeks. The marketplace stack is based on two Kaizen products: Taproot, our library of compliance-engineered building blocks for public institutions, and Blacksmith, our AI harness that allows us to rapidly configure these modules for any mission-critical use case. We started Kaizen to modernize the broken, disconnected application layer systems across our Country's most critical institutions, and I'm so proud of our team for executing brilliantly against this national security priority. Importantly, I'm grateful for the vision of JIATF-401, Secretary Driscoll, and the @USArmy for placing such emphasis on speed, quality, and security.

Every AI company (robotics, bio, etc) is trying to master making their own data flywheel. Here's our view into how we've thought about building it up starting with autonomy

For 9+ years we’ve been building simulators, data engines, data pipelines, scenario editors, RL environments, what's now world models... and dozens of other products. Now we’ve connected them all under one agentic layer. It is not just another harness but also the broader system to safely design, develop, and deploy Physical AI. I continue to believe a modern, AI-first development environment is one of the biggest bottlenecks to putting intelligence on a billion machines. Unsurprisingly, we’ve been using it internally for a while now and the impact has been profound in almost every measurable way. As you might know, our old office was on the corner of Pioneer and Dana – and calling it Pioneer would be too cliche. Introducing Dana :) applied.co/dana-blog

The goal is to make a billion machines intelligent so announcing Dana as the next step in the plan... There's a lot you can do with a single platform with all foundational capabilities to build, test, deploy, and maintain physical systems across almost all form factors so you can see where this is going :) P.S. If you look very hard, you'll see my 15s of fame as an extra in the garage

When your surgeon brother also starts publishing at ICML. Man can do it all
1/ When expert clinicians see similar cases, they often reuse stable mental templates, known as diagnostic schemas. I built a way to test whether LLMs do the same. (Below: my study group thinking through a cardiogenic shock case during med school)
