Some amazing stuff happening here!
Back on site @big_malarkey without our friends @hull_librariestoday :( It’s the last bits of technical finagling. Anyone remember that scene in Apollo 13? “I need to you make this fit into this, using only these..”
Unfortunately, due to works by Northern Powergrid the Makerspace will be closed on Thursday 8th May. We are expecting to be open as normal on Friday 9th May.
A lovely evening in prospect for a few of us tonight. Representing @hull_libraries at the Hull & East Riding Skills Bootcamp Awards 2025. Wish us luck.
and we are back. We're back open as of 10am on the 10th January.
Everything is fixed and we are back to normal.
Due to an electrical issue the makerspace is expected to be closed all week. We'll update you if anything changes with this.
We're sorry to have to share this but due to a technical issue the makerspace is unable to open today (6th January 2025).
We're working hard behind the scenes and will keep you updated as we find out more about the issue and how long the closure will be.
One of our members, Steve, has built this cut down replica of Beverley Road from scratch using our laser cutter. If you want a closer look then he’s exhibiting at the Carnegie centre on the 19/20th October…
Our Demystifying Making group are on week 3 and are making some amazing T-shirts and learning about dye sublimation. I’m a bit concerned about this imprint left on the Teflon sheet that literally is the ghost of Elvis…
If you see these lovely humans over the next few days - be sure to ask them something. We've so many questions....
And they’re off!
With their individual cries and distinctive plumage, the Curiosity news vendors are now distributing the free Curiosity newspaper across Hull city centre.
Stop them for a paper, a badge, a sticker or to ask any question you damn well like.

Our Matt is back helping @bbcburnsy with laser cutting. Curious to see if it really is that easy? Pop in and see us in Central Library and have a chat with our friendly and helpful team.
Amazed? Yes. Confused? Absolutely. But, thanks to advice from Librarian Matt, @bbcburnsy eventually gets to grips with the art of laser cutting on his most recent visit to the @makerspacehull

We had a great time too. It's always fun to break out the soldering irons :)
Another brilliant free session from @makerspacehull at @hull_libraries, soldering, wiring, laser printing & building a light cube with my eldest daughter #stem

Everything you need to start screen printing (kit, computers and experts with advice) is waiting at @makerspacehull
Ever wondered how you can learn to screen print? We asked @bbcburnsy to head back to @makerspacehull in Central Library to get a quick lesson from librarian Matt.

We've had a couple of cancellations on our Demystifying Making course. Quick - that means there's a second chance to get a space! eventbrite.co.uk/e/demystify…
Our Matt andwith @bbcburnsy here helping out the the Curious. We had a great day filming this (and maybe some other secrtet stuff) - If you're not following @CuriosityHull then go and follow them and don't forget you can pop along and see us in the Makerspace to find out more!
On the top floor of Hull's Central Library, you'll find the @makerspacehull. But what is it and why is it? We sent our new signing, midfield wizard @bbcburnsy (ably assisted by Librarian Matt), to find out. @hull_libraries

"Libraries are absolutely critical as a part of the intangible glue that holds neighbourhoods, areas & ultimately society together." Fantastic thread from @srgreen13 - another #LibraryLover!
