August 11, 2025 was three things at once: my 5 year wedding anniversary, my first day of college in my thirties, and my son's first day of preschool. I did not plan that. Enrollment picked the date, not me.
Update on the pitch caller. A lot of you have asked, and I'm still going to share it.
Before I release the code and build guide, I'm getting a legal answer on the patent side. I've gone through the claims and I don't believe it infringes anything.
Or you can make your own for like $20… cheap Bluetooth hardware, belt clip I took from my garage door opener, and a Bluetooth earpiece to send my recorded audio of myself calling the pitch call to (can’t hear it in video).
Question is if DIY PitchCom is game legal 😅
Genuine thanks to the patent attorney in my replies for pointing me to some good info. The extra homework was annoying, but knowing the basics of patent law is something that will pay off regardless.
More soon.
It's out

Took a little longer than a weekend 😅 but it's out.
The pitch caller from this video is now OpenSigns. $20-30 stick on my belt plays my voice saying the pitch in my catcher's earbud.
Still hit or miss at 60'6" so I'm not selling it. Code and build guide are free, links below

Why it took a while: I went through the patents and talked with a patent attorney before putting anything out. My read is in the build post. Not legal advice though, so check for yourself before you build.

Check your league's rules before using it in a game. Feel free to ask me questions! I may not have an answer right away but I will get you one. The delay here proves that. Enjoy!
What if I curse at my own code while supporting it? That was my first half-year learning to code 😅
Well, I built /thread in my own workspace as a way to spawn sessions from a single session in CC. I found myself diluting context with random ideas, tasks, explorations so I wanted something that would recognize when something needed its own session and suggest spawning one.

I was going to release another ABS post before the finale of the "How I Got Here" series, but life is gonna life so I'm still editing it heavily.
Regardless, I'll keep it simple, here is Part 5 for those who took an interest in the past year of my life:

Almost to the end of this series, but this next one was tough and hit the hardest. It's probably too much, probably an overshare. But not being open and transparent wouldn't be me. Plus, I owe some of you an explanation.
The short version: this spring my wife's health did not come back after the baby, and everything in our home ran through me for a stretch. I found out what I am actually like when that happens. Good at it, in a way that was never a compliment.
So to those I ghosted, I am sorry. I hope this one helps you understand, and maybe forgive me. I was underwater.
The real, honest piece on what was going on while I tried to keep our home from falling apart. Part 4 of 5: morainorshine.com/blog/overd…
