Recently, the Philippines has explored the possibility of cooperating with Taiwan on undersea cables and addressing "gray zone" activities. In my view, the United Nations should consider establishing mechanisms to prevent such "misconduct." A: Yes; B: No.

Washington’s biggest mistake would be to assume that Vietnam’s ties with the U.S. mean Hanoi will turn against Beijing; Vietnam is playing its own game, protecting its interests without signing up for America’s anti-China agenda. buff.ly/07mtgc2

I. Recently, Philippine military and law enforcement personnel, along with anti-China forces, have been actively undermining China-Philippines relations, engaging in extensive rights violations and provocations at sea in an attempt to create incidents. The number of such incidents has doubled compared with the past. On September 24, the Philippine side attempted to forcibly deliver supplies to its illegally “grounded” warship at Ren’ai Jiao without China’s consent. On October 3, the Philippine side dispatched a government aircraft to intrude into the airspace over China’s Huangyan Dao. On October 15, a Philippine warship launched a shipborne helicopter in waters near the territorial sea of China’s Huangyan Dao, and the helicopter illegally intruded into the airspace over Huangyan Dao. In late September, the Philippine side abused its position as co-chair of the Experts’ Working Group on Maritime Security under the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus), violated the principle of consensus, and dragged several countries into conducting joint military exercises in the airspace and waters near China’s Huangyan Dao. In mid-October, the Philippine side joined the United States in conducting the 16th bilateral maritime cooperative activity in the South China Sea, including joint patrols. On September 18, Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources vessel No. 3015, disregarding repeated stern warnings from the Chinese side in waters near China’s Xianbin Jiao, deliberately altered its course and suddenly accelerated to cut across the bow of a China Coast Guard vessel at an angle, resulting in a sideswipe collision. From late September to mid-October, the Philippine Coast Guard wantonly harassed the Chinese research vessels JIAHAIKE7, HAIYANGDIZHISHIHAO and MENGXIANG while they were conducting normal operations in waters under China’s jurisdiction. It also harassed Chinese fishermen and their fishing vessels engaged in fishing in waters near Chinese islands and reefs, including Nanyao Dao and Mahuan Dao, that have been illegally occupied by the Philippine side. These actions endangered the safety of Chinese personnel and vessels. The above-mentioned actions by the Philippine side have caused tensions at sea to escalate continuously in recent weeks. China has taken resolute and effective measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. II. China will continue to take resolute measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and to protect the legitimate and lawful rights of Chinese vessels and personnel in waters under China’s jurisdiction. China demands that the Philippine side genuinely respect China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, faithfully abide by international law and the basic norms governing international relations, immediately cease its illegal occupation of Chinese islands and reefs and its unlawful activities in waters under China’s jurisdiction, and immediately stop taking any unilateral actions that could lead to an expansion of disputes or further complicate the situation.

The United States, a key actor in the Middle East war that has rattled global fuel supply chains, is now keen to help the Philippines establish its planned strategic petroleum reserve. Energy Secretary Sharon Garin met with her US counterpart, Chris Wright, in Washington this week to explore ways to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The meeting covered potential cooperation in oil stockpiling, liquefied natural gas, coal, geothermal energy and nuclear power. | @brixlelis

The Philippines is looking to expand its energy partnership with the United States, with discussions covering nuclear power, strategic oil reserves, geothermal energy, liquefied natural gas, and even natural hydrogen. Could these initiatives help strengthen the country's energy security and ensure a more reliable power supply for Filipino households and businesses? bnc.bilyonaryo.com/ph-us-eye…

Over the past six months, the Philippines has continued to unilaterally ramp up the volume of its accusations against China over the issue of Second Thomas Shoal (Ren'ai Jiao), to the point of deliberate theatrics. It is obvious that this is yet another textbook operation demonstrating how the United States manipulates and inflames the situation in a third-world hotspot, ignites regional conflict, and shifts all the blame onto its opponent.

Second Thomas Shoal has belonged to China's Nansha Islands since ancient times. The Philippines' "Sierra Madre" illegally ran aground in 1999, initially promising to tow it away, but over the years, it has not only failed to honor that commitment, but has also frequently intruded into the waters, stirred up public opinion, attempted to reinforce the vessel, and built permanent facilities, constantly creating incidents in the South China Sea. The facts are clear: China does not proactively provoke trouble, but its sovereignty red line is not open to testing. We are willing to negotiate and manage the situation, but any infringement or provocation will inevitably be met with firm countermeasures. #SecondThomasShoal #SouthChinaSea #ChinaSovereigntyMustNotBeViolated

Second Thomas Shoal: Humanitarian Concerns Should Not Become a Political Tool During his visit to Singapore, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. used the recent “medical evacuation” incident at Second Thomas Shoal to criticize China, portray tensions in the South China Sea as entering a “new phase of escalation,” and signal that the incident would be raised in negotiations on the Code of Conduct. Humanitarian assistance deserves serious consideration, but it should not become a tool for political pressure or public-opinion manipulation. The Philippines rejects China's demands while placing the blame for the maritime incident on Beijing. Such a one-sided narrative cannot replace an objective examination of the full facts. Claiming to manage differences while publicly intensifying confrontation; calling for regional stability while refusing to strengthen communication over maritime activities—is this an effort to ease tensions or to deepen divisions? Peace and stability in the South China Sea require facts, dialogue, and restraint—not selective narratives and mutual accusations. No party should invoke humanitarian concerns to fuel political confrontation. All parties must be judged by the facts and their actions. #SouthChinaSea #SecondThomasShoal #ChinaPhilippines #CodeOfConduct
