My husband and I released our first indie game on Steam. It didn’t do well, but we don’t want to give up. Starting again, we want to learn from our mistakes. This time, we start small: 2D, pixel art, 6 months of development. We are super excited about this new project!

My husband and I released our 2nd indie game, Idle Bookstore, a month ago. It had only sold 600 copies, with 5000 wishlists on launch. It certainly isn’t a great result, but we expected it. We’d like to share our lesson learned with you, if you are interested.

Second, don’t easily combine genres. Idle Bookstore starts as a simple desktop companion that writes books while you work. However, we added bookstore management later, which made the original experience worse. We thought it would attract more players, but ended up losing both.

Although Idle Bookstore didn’t succeed commercially, being able to bring another game to completion is a win for us. We really appreciate all of the support we received from all of you! With confidence, we believe our next project will be even better!

We have released our indie game about writing books and running bookstores. Our final bookstore was designed with gothic theme, which is quite different from our usual cozy style. The contrast was a lot of fun to play with!

We are developing an indie game about writing books and running a bookstore. We finally added cats! The pet system is inspired by Tamagotchi, my favorite toy growing up. You have to feed, clean poops, and pet the cat. If the cat likes you, you’ll get a surprise later.

My husband and I started indie game development 5 years ago. Our first title costs us 4 years because of scope creep. So when we started Idle Bookstore, we said we will finish it in 6 months. Now we are happy to announce Idle Bookstore will release on Sep 15th. We did it!
