Trump again laments that Putin failed to take Kyiv, and repeats the fantastical tale surely told to him by his Russian handlers, that it's all the fault of a Russian general that took a wrong turn.

Russian tanks did use highways to Kyiv in 2022 and took heavy losses. The main reason the 40-mile convoy failed was it lacked fuel and food. Ukraine blew bridges, flooded the Irpin, and ambushed columns. nbcpalmsprings.com/2025/08/15/fac… rusi.org/explore-our-re… npr.org/2022/03/01/108… mwi.westpoint.edu/urban-warfare-… euronews.com/my-europe/2025…

Canada is officially cutting ties with Elon Musk's Starlink. Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed Canada is moving away from Starlink, heavily backing a $2.3B contract for homegrown rival Telesat Lightspeed instead. We have the best PM hands down! 🇨🇦👏

Republicans threaten to block $350 billion in Pentagon funding unless Trump takes a tougher stance on Russia The dispute was triggered by the Trump-Putin deal on diesel imports, as well as restrictions on Ukraine’s use of satellite systems. Some Republicans are demanding that sanctions against Russia be reinstated and restrictions on Kyiv be lifted, The Hillreports. Congressman Don Bacon said that unless the administration changes course, Republicans will refuse to support Trump’s legislative agenda for the remainder of the congressional session.
Republican congressman threatens sanctions against US agencies over Starshield restrictions in Ukraine US Representative Brian Fitzpatrick said he would push for an investigation into restrictions on the Starshield satellite system in Ukraine. He said those responsible could face public congressional hearings and budget cuts for the agencies involved. Fitzpatrick pledged to discuss military aid for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia with Volodymyr Zelensky. He also urged the US to provide Kyiv with the weapons it needs, completely phase out Russian oil and tighten sanctions against Moscow. According to the congressman, these measures would receive broad support in the House of Representatives.

This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China. wsj.com/world/russia/putin-f…

Today in Oslo, I met with King Haakon VIII of Norway. I thank His Majesty, the Government, and all the Norwegian people for their support for Ukraine. We discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. We must bring every Ukrainian child home. We discussed what steps we can take to make this happen. We are also doing everything we can to help our people in Oleshky, which is under Russian occupation. The situation there is simply horrific. I thank Norway for standing with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people during this difficult time.

🇺🇦🇩🇪 THE END OF PUTIN'S DRONES! GERMANY IS SENDING UKRAINE ITS LATEST SKYRANGER AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS! Germany is supplying Ukraine with advanced Skyranger mobile air defense systems manufactured by the German defense company Rheinmetall. These modern, highly automated air defense systems are designed to intercept drones, cruise missiles, and other low-flying aerial threats, providing a powerful additional layer of protection against Russian attacks. Key features and capabilities: Drone-free zones: Each Skyranger unit is designed to protect a designated area against hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. Under suitable operational conditions, a single system can help establish a protective zone covering approximately 4 × 4 kilometers. Intelligent ammunition: The system uses programmable airburst ammunition. Instead of relying solely on a direct hit, its cannon fires projectiles that release a concentrated cloud of tungsten subprojectiles at a precisely calculated point in front of the target, dramatically increasing the probability of destroying incoming drones. Versatile platforms: The Skyranger family includes the Skyranger 30, equipped with a 30 mm automatic cannon and optional short-range air defense missiles, and the Skyranger 35, featuring a powerful 35 mm KDG revolver cannon. The modular turret can be integrated onto armored vehicles, including Boxer platforms, while the Skyranger 35 has also been developed for integration with Leopard 1-based vehicles. High rate of fire: Depending on the configuration, the weapons can achieve rates of fire of approximately 1,000–1,250 rounds per minute, allowing rapid engagement of incoming aerial threats. For Ukraine, these deliveries are particularly important as Russia continues launching waves of attack drones against cities, energy facilities, and other critical infrastructure. Putin's drones are facing an increasingly dangerous enemy. Germany is helping Ukraine build a stronger shield over its skies. 🇺🇦🇩🇪

Russia’s military satellite Kosmos-2612 has maneuvered to within 26 meters of ICEYE-X36, a Finnish-American radar satellite whose imagery is supplied to Ukraine. Space analyst Georgy Trishkin said the near-zero relative speed could indicate an attempt to force ICEYE-X36 to make orbital corrections, potentially disrupting operations and using up its fuel. RAND researcher Michael Bohnert called the approach a show of force.

USG: Are we the bad guys?
Tillis on Patriot Missiles: I want to know who in the government is saying no to those transfers. This is not even taking it from our inventories. This is allowing it to be transferred from other European nations. Whoever that person is has the blood on their hands every bit as much as Vladimir Putin.

JUST IN: The Trump administration is delaying the transfer of Patriot interceptor missiles Ukraine needs to defend against Russian missile and drone attacks, officials said Monday. Some of the missiles are coming from countries friendly to Ukraine, but Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth must approve the transfers. A Ukrainian official told The Washington Post last week that “only a couple” of interceptor missiles remain in Ukraine’s stockpile.

Rybar, the Russian blogger with close ties to the Russian intelligence services and the Russian military, has produced a remarkably detailed map. It seems the Russians have a very clear idea of where unrest is likely to break out in Europe! They are watching us. They are analysing us. And they clearly know exactly where they might strike. #russia #EU
