I genuinely think at some point Birmingham will actually be declared broke and placed in special measures from governmental level.

Here we go again. Above inflation rise to the minimum wage which will cause even more pressure on businesses and feed into inflation. It will make life even less affordable for the lowest paid. Cue the usual "your business isn't viable if you cant afford to pay a living wage" posts from the terminally thick that would struggle to run a bath, never mind a business or employ people. Here, for anyone that can be bothered to educate themselves even in the slightest, is why the circa 50% rise in minimum wage in the last 6 years has made life less affordable and contributed to the cost of living crisis. Minimum wage employee 2020: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £18,460 Employee can make 18,460 widgets in a year. Cost per widget (ignoring any other cost or profit): £1 Take-home pay: £15,202 Widgets the employee can afford: 15,202 2027 min wage of of £13.20: Total cost to employer (wages + NI + pension): £29,436 Widgets made in a year (same productivity): 18,460 Cost per widget: £1.59 Take-home pay: £22,050 Widgets the employee can afford: 13,868 They’ve had a 45% increase in take-home pay but can afford 9% fewer widgets. This is why you are worse off. Now factor in other business costs, higher corporation tax, higher energy costs, higher risk from new legislation, maintaining pay differential, etc. etc. etc.. Yet the thick "yOuR bUsInEsS iSnT ViAbLe iF yOu cAnT aFfoRd AnOtHeR 50p" brigade are out in force championing this. Just increase the tax free allowance and reduce spending, for f***s sake. They are just driving businesses off a cliff in the UK.

If it were possible to mandate a minimum wage every country in Africa could pass a law tomorrow and lift their population out of poverty by decree.

When we sell a house, why isn't any equity shared with everyone else in the street? Why does the lottery not pay out the winnings every week to everyone who bought a ticket, not just the winners? Life is full of mysteries when you're Richard Murphy.
Why do shareholders get the rewards when workers create the wealth a company generates? Is it time to rethink just what companies are for and to require that the rewards be shared more fairly? youtu.be/15r28WaimP8?si=oiL5…

Should euthanasia be compulsory for people over the age of 30 that still believe in socialism?

Arday and Widdecombe are both tragedy’s. If you have only mourned one, if one is ‘down to his actions’ or ‘her ‘reprehensible opinions’ ……YOU are the problem here. YOU and your stupid, ignorant identity politics are creating this environment.

Forget Oliver Girouds mind numbing performance, who is responsible for his hire? Who actually thought this is the guy we need commentating at a World Cup? Typical BBC...

I regularly use GWR for travelling into London for work and have said many, many times their service is simply not fit for purpose to be relied on as a viable means of travel.

@nxwestmidlands please help. Left my 70 year old dad waiting at the Birmingham city centre bus stop at 21.07 waiting for the X21 to Bartley Green . Bus stop showed it was due at 21.10. Where is it? Bus stop no longer shows that bus. What has happened to it?

@nxwestmidlands I placed a complaint and still waiting to hear what happened to that bus (X21 21.10pm on 29/04)? It's 14ft high and 10 tonnes, surely it can't have vanished in thin air. Somebody must know?

It's not a question of feeling sorry for anyone. Reality doesn't bend to your sense of fairness. The consequences of this policy will be disastrous for corporate Britain, no matter if you think it's fair or not.

My wife and I got mugged in Paris last week A man with a knife ran up to us next to Eiffel Tower "Give me your fucking phone right now" he said to me I handed over my Siemens cell phone immediately "Yalla, hers too" he shouted I raised my eyebrow "Did I notice a lovely Arabic accent, young man? I warmly said to him, and immediately felt ashamed for being scared This poor man is from abroad and simply still adjusting to the European culture "Take this too, my friend" I said and ripped the pearl necklace off my wife's neck "What the fuck are you doing?!" she started crying "Be quiet. This man is struggling. He needs it more than us" I said He took everything and ran away Sure, theft is never good, but I would rather get robbed in a diverse city, than be safe in a racist white one

British MP Iqbal Mohamed became emotional in Parliament, arguing that a ban on cousin marriage would be discriminatory and Islamophobic, as he considers it a practice rooted in his cultural background.

Funny how the Speaker now says he “can’t” tell the PM to answer the question. Yet when Boris Johnson was in office, he did exactly that—on record. Same chair, different standards.
