The scope and breadth of the finding out over the next 5 years is just going to be impossible to see the edges of.
A planet-sized phenomenon it will be impossible to ever fully perceive, record, or collate.
Your attempt to appear self-deprecating doesn’t make you look like ANY less of a douche holding that thing.

Remember: Game designers in the 80s and 90s were computer science majors who loved literature, classic fantasy and AD&D. There is a very obvious reason the AAA market had been declining for so long. I don't need to spell it out.
Everyone is so stupid now that I can’t even tell whether this is a bit.
1. Amazon
2. Kiosks
3. Immigrants
4. kids with no futures and thus no care for social norms (of any race)
If you’re stupid enough to think that a meaningful LLM can run on a refrigerator ROM then it’s a wonder you figured out how to log on to the internet.
Man it really pisses off a formerly high-caste Indian when someone labels them accurately as an indentured servant on the H1-B program, doesn’t it. Flames from eyes.
Watching a bunch of Right Wingers having to personally reconcile with the fact that they hate the H1-B program and that also means admitting that GDP and stock value are phony indicators of productivity has been kind of entertaining, at least.
Can we finish with the Indians and the Jews before you all move on to the boomers again? You’re so inconsistent.

I never get tired of people using Y2K as an example of a failed prophecy of doom because Y2K was 100% real and was avoided due to engineers fixing all the code

I think we’re learning in real time how many people don’t experience the uncanny valley effect and can’t intuit genuine human expression (might also explain why we keep boosting transparent narcissists for their “honesty”)
When these guys finally get the world with no social contract that they keep begging for, they’re not going to like it.
About mathematicians (and people in general) worried about their jobs: this is completely understandable. You used to do something that other people were willing to pay for, and you're not sure if in the future you will still be useful to others.
So... figure out how you can be useful to others! Nobody said it was easy. You're not "owed" a job by society, no matter how many years of training/experience you've invested.
Businesses know this very well; they can be operating for 100 years, and then people stop buying the stuff they make, and they go out of business. Constantly re-evaluate and pivot to making stuff people want!
In math terms: if your field "dries up" (this happens all the time, and it's important to recognize when it starts), move to another; there's always more math to be discovered! We are granted tenure not so that we can sit on our laurels, but so we can take really big risks that may not pan out for a long time (if ever).
The fact that you think the tech assholes are among the smartest is an example of learned helplessness.
It’s eminent, not imminent.
“Can I put a giant obnoxious noisy data center in your backyard? It’s owned by people who openly despise you, and they need it to run the programs to spy on you all the time. It will cost billions, but you won’t benefit, in fact your utility costs will rise.”
“No thanks”
“I must psychoanalyze this incomprehensible reaction. Perhaps you (a rube) have simply been fooled by our adversaries. Regardless, I’ll pay your local city council to Imminent Domain your home and get what I want anyway, you detestable moron.”
