Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Friends and Founders Hang last night!
Having a strong sense of community is really important to us, and hearing about all the cool projects everyone is building is always so motivating.
See you at the next one!
Macro Weekly Dev Update xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1nxeLMRrD…
Everything in Macro is connected via a bidirectional graph of your entire workspace.
A customer email links to the task, engineering ticket, and pull request that follow from it. Mention a document in a channel, and that reference is tracked.
From any document, message, task, or person, you can see everywhere it's been referenced, whether by a human or AI agent.
✨ New in Macro: Customize your sidebar.
Choose which apps appear iand drag them into any order. Just click the three dots to get started.
Hidden apps stay in your workspace, and your AI agents can still use them.
Pro tip: transform a bunch of todo boxes into Tasks with 1 click. It's deterministic and instant and takes into account people and dates.
With Macro, you're never locked into a single provider. Macro works with frontier models from all the major providers.
Pick whichever model fits the task and choose how hard it thinks.
You might also spot "Create agent" at the bottom of that menu. More on those soon...
One of the most frequent questions from users is about how Macro protects your user data. Our goal is to make our first-party hosted Macro application the most trusted, secure and globally reliable way to use Macro.
If you are looking for a BAA, our full SOC 2 report, or additional information, see security.macro.com or contact us through that site.
- Macro has ZDR agreements with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, so the work you do in Macro is not used for training by these companies.
- We are SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, with annual third-party audits and penetration tests.
- We also regularly use the latest cyber-enabled models to pen-test our systems in addition to traditional pen tests as part of our SOC 2 audit.
- The MCP and SDK has nearly full coverage of the interface with no rate limits so you can easily export your data.
And of course, it's fully open source, so you and your agents can inspect it yourself, and you have comfort that your continued operation of Macro is not tried to our solvency; if we were to make changes you didn't like you could move to a self-hosted version.
Macro Calls --> Team Level Memory for agents
- Share a Macro Call just like a GMeet link
- Start a call from any channel like a Slack huddle
- Anyone can join with a link... no account needed
- By default calls are:
1. Recorded and transcribed
2. Speaker "diarized" i.e. if you have 2+ people coming through Bob's mic the transcript doesn't record all speech as "Bob" but rather "speaker 2" "speaker 3"*
3. Summarized (key points, tasks, action items...)
4. Logged to team-level memory so all agents can understand what's going on in sales calls, eng startups, etc. all through one tool
*eventually we want to add voice fingerprints for your team so that it properly ascribes speech to the right colleague even if they're off camera
Why is this exciting? There's already so many tools for recording meetings.
1. Integrated with the Macro ecosystem...
Example 1: you can set up a Macro routine to notify engineering every time a bug is mentioned on a call.
Example 2: when you @Cursor in a macro channel to build a feature, he can see that feature has been mentioned in standup and pull relevant context
2. All in one place, in one tool. Sales calls, engineering standups, etc. are all in one list, auto-tagged and searchable from Macro's "unified search". Want to find all mentions of "acme project" across tasks, emails, channels, docs, etc.? You can do that from a single search bar in 50ms.
3. Since it's all through on system — from call to coding agent — there's no room for things to go wrong. Sure, you can try to hook up Granola to GMeet to... and we do that too, but doing it all in one stack ensures that MCP and Zapier aren't holding together things. Everything is designed to work together.

I recently merged compliant editors for FIG, PS, AI, DOCX, PPTX and XLSX files into Macro. There's still more work before flagging on in production, but it's really nice to finally have all our files in one filesystem again, like it's the 90s, instead of each app bundling storage and app. Internally, we are in the process of migrating off of Figma and Creative Cloud.
Today we're launching "copy availability" for your calendar.
Super simple. No booking link. No dragging when you're free. Just copy as plaintext.
Take a look at the transition at 0:06... Austin had a fun time combining real footage shot on our cinema cameras with motion graphics produced by Opus:
Calendar in Macro already lets you create and edit events, reschedule by dragging, add Macro call links, and keep everything synced with your existing calendar. Learn more: docs.macro.com/product/calen…
All software should be open source, maximally transparent and built collaboratively between the core team and users.
"It's on our roadmap" or "eng is looking at it" is no longer an acceptable response to customers. Acceptable repsonses:
- "good idea, here is the PR __link__ let's chat about it real quick"
- "we're actually taking a slightly different approach, it already works, here's how"
- "the code is fully open source, we're jammed this week but we'd welcome a PR for this from you/your agent"
Code is cheap these days, there is literally zero excuse other than a lack of urgency or cultural failings that prevent rapid progress.
Today we're launching Macro Sheets, an open source spreadsheet with...
- Live collaboration via crdt's (using our existing sync service) human-stress tested to 10 peers, though it should hold up to more.
- Live linked @-mentions to other entities in your workspace; docs, people, companies, databases, folders, etc.
This has been really nice for our GTM team using sheets to @-mention People and [support] Channels.
- Concurrent AI editing as a peer in the collaboration system. Edit with the built-in agent or with your own agents via MCP. The sheet doesn't need to be open to edit. AI can edit many sheets at once.
- Tightly integrated with Macro chat and our existing sharing/permissions system, making collaboration seamless.
Here's a short voiceover by Austin. This is Austin's first video experimenting with AI interface walkthroughs instead of Screen Studio, which will hopefully allow us to put out more explainer content. It's using the real components from our repo via Github integration:
The code for sheets was mostly generated by Astra, using our existing sync service, using IronCalc for the calculation engine and Google Sheets as a UI reference because it's what users are already familiar with:
