This app is becoming disgusting with posts bordering bigotry and ethnicity. If Nigerians hate themselves this much why not work towards a regional govt the way our founding fathers worked towards Independence..... The hatred is just too much!

Behold, Our New Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe Is Here! Today marks a historic moment in the political journey of our dear state, with the swearing-in of Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe as our new Deputy Governor, following the demise of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the immediate past Deputy Governor, last December. While I took my time to make a replacement for Senator Ewhrudjakpo, the choice of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Akpe, was guided by the need for continuity, competence, commitment, character and the fear of God. I feel very happy to observe that the nomination and subsequent inauguration of Dr. Akpe, has enjoyed wide acceptance, reflecting that we have prayerfully made a good choice of a man with distinguished academic excellence and tested administrative acumen. Once again, congratulations to the new Deputy Governor, and I urge him to serve with loyalty and an abiding sense of responsibility for the greater good of Bayelsa State. Let me appreciate Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and members of the State House of Assembly for your timely approval of the nomination and also the Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, for administering the oath of office and allegiance on Dr. Akpe. I also congratulate and welcome the newly sworn-in Commissioner for the Ministry of Women, Children Affairs, Empowerment and Social Development, Mrs. Joanna Gigi and the eighteen new Permanent Secretaries as active players in the Government of Assured Prosperity. While I call for the continued support of our people for the current administration, my team and I have resolved to make a difference in governance through legacy projects and programmes across the state.

The tribal hatred among young Nigerians is alarming...if only they can channel same energy to the real enemies, Nigeria will be better. People ignore the real cause of the country's backwardness and chase clout. Tribal war won't make the country better ....

Tonight in Yenagoa, I hosted the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, to a banquet as part of our hospitality to mark his visit to Bayelsa State. Just as I assured him and his delegation when they paid a courtesy call earlier in the day of a special treat at the dinner, our award-winning Bayelsa State Council for Arts and Culture troupe, gave a sterling display of the beautiful culture of the Ijaw people. Once again, I wish to welcome Ambassador Mignot to Bayelsa State and I do acknowledge our existing cordial working relationship with the EU in Nigeria. In my brief remarks, I appreciated the past EU interventions in our various communities and expressed the readiness of the state government for continued collaboration in the areas of peace building, youth development and security. To demonstrate our great reception and love for the partnership, I seized the opportunity of the dinner to confer citizenship of Bayelsa State on Ambassador Mignot with an Ijaw name, Ibe-tariowei, meaning, lover of the people. @EUinNigeria

PUBLIC STATEMENT: On the Aftermath of the APC Anambra Gubernatorial Primary Election, April 5, 2025 My dear friends, supporters, members of our great party, and Ndi Anambra, First, I give glory to God Almighty — the source of strength, grace, and clarity. In moments of darkness, His light always finds a way to shine through. His mercies endure and renew each day, and for that, I am profoundly grateful. Yesterday, I formally submitted a petition to the Appeals Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the so-called primary election conducted in Anambra on April 5, 2025. That exercise, by all observable standards, was a charade — a well-orchestrated heist designed to deliver a predetermined outcome. The facts are now public: non-party members populated the delegate list; genuine party faithful were locked out or violently barred from voting; accreditation was either skipped or manipulated; and votes were counted without transparency. This is not just about me. It is about the soul of our democracy. About the values we claim to represent. About the future we owe our children. Now, many are asking, “Val, what next?” My answer is simple and unshaken: I will stay the course. I did not join politics to decorate the register, receive accolades, or shop for appointments. I came to be part of a generation that restores integrity to our political system, that makes governance accountable, and that builds the kind of country we all deserve. My mission is clear. It is to serve Ndi Anambra with humility, vision, and excellence. That mission began long before April 5, and it will continue far beyond the treachery of that day. Thus, I will not be distracted. I will not run to the Senate, nor will I pivot to another political opportunity for the sake of ambition. I will stand firm, here, in the APC, and I will fight this good fight to its just end. Because Ndi Anambra are worth it. Because our democracy is worth it. History teaches us that freedom is never freely given — it is fought for. The Civil Rights Movement in the United States, Nelson Mandela’s long walk to freedom, Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egypt, Nigeria’s own fight for independence from the British — all remind us that oppression always fights back before it breaks. That is what we are witnessing today: the dying kicks of a system scared of change. But Anambra must change for good. And it will. Let me be clear: I am not a transactional politician. I do not seek power for its own sake. I seek it to make a difference — to restore dignity, create jobs, secure lives, and light a path for the next generation. The sham of April 5 was not just a fraud against me; it was a theft against Ndi Anambra. To the architects of that manipulation, I say this; The future cannot be bribed or bullied. The people are watching. History is recording. To our supporters — the dreamers, the believers, the Valiants, and the tireless builders of this Movement — I say: Keep your heads up. Our mission continues. Stay strong. Stay hopeful. We will not back down. We will not break. Let us remind the APC that this election is a defining moment — not just for Anambra, but for the credibility of our party and the soul of our nation. The Party still has a chance to right this wrong and present a candidate who can truly win and govern. May wisdom guide us, may courage strengthen us, and may the grace of God continue to carry us. Ka Anambra Chawapu. Thank you, and God bless you all. Signed, Valentine Ozigbo April 8, 2025

Today, we resumed activities marking the 5th anniversary of our Government of Assured Prosperity and it was a double celebration at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Ovom, Yenagoa. I am particularly happy with the valued interventions in our educational system by the State Educational Development Trust Funds (EDTF) and the distribution of starter packs to 2850 successful trainees of the Governor Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme. Good to note that among other worthy awardees, I was honoured by the EDTF for our support of the growth of education in the State. I wish to appreciate the selfless leadership of the board for the past 5 years, and we hope to do more as a government for the betterment of the educational sector, particularly now that our focus is more on science and technical education. Also, the 2,850 successful participants of the Diri Skills Acquisition Programme were today given their starter packs as I encouraged them to kick start their entrepreneurial journey, grow to become great employers of labour, and grow the state by extension. As a government, we take human capital development seriously, and we don't play politics with the empowerment of our people. At the occasion today, I re-echoed our plan to achieve a 24-hour power supply across the state, a legacy that will boost industrialisation and economic growth. This is a commitment I have made and by the grace of God, this will happen before the end of this year. Once again, I say congratulations to all the beneficiaries and I urge them not to sell off the starter packs our government has provided for them. ~ SDD
