MAGA is big mad at James Carville for saying this about Donald Trump:
āIt could be a combination of being a fat fcking slob, which of course he is. It could be that he canāt sleep at night because his beached whale body canāt allow the circulation it needsā¦we should revisit the possibility of a Syphilis diagnosis.ā
Iām not a fan of his but he nailed it this time.

Always excited to hear that Wisdom, the now 74-y.o. mÅlÄ« (Laysan albatross), has returned to Midway Atoll to nest! She's the oldest known wild bird & has a new mateāand a new egg...at 74! We've done a bunch of work on mÅlÄ«, based on carcasses donated to us by the USFWS in Hawaii.

Not exactly Santa's workshop, but the dermestids (& @OHIOHonors undergrad Grace Vance & I) have been slowly preparing the alligator known as #ShoeGator (OUVC 9761, left). We saved the shoe (& his penisāin the jar) & are now assembling some of the parts (e.g., paws). Fun project!
#ShoeGator updateāToday Grace Vance & I took apart the carcass. We skinned it & removed the limbs, saving the torso (& shoe) for another day. The full skin is shown here, but the CT data helped us cut it into sections with just osteoderms, which we'll feed to the dermestids. š

Thanks to Ryan Ridgely, we've got all 3 datasets for this shoe-eating alligator assembledāas well as the shoe itself. Coincidentally, I provided 3D viz of this exact specimen (OUVC 9761) to CBS for a 2011 episode of CSI Miamiāwhere an alligator was the murder weapon! #shoegatorš

#ManateeMonday @OHIOHonors student Grace Vance & I scanned two manatee heads along with #shoegator on Saturday. We did vascular injections of both heads 20 yrs (!) ago (w/ @CrocHolliday et al.) but can get much better scan data now. Cthulhu vibes aside, so much new science to do!
Manatees! These amazing specimens (an adult & a youngster) sadly were killed by speedboats in Florida & were then legally donated to our research. Getting them ready today for CT scanning tomorrow with Grace Vance, our resident marine mammal researcher & @OHIOHonors undergrad.
