No ISBNs in Canada for AI writing. This is a fantastic policy, and every country should do the same. canada.ca/en/library-archive… h/t @max_spero_

The US military almost started WW3, based on a chatbot making up a Chinese vessel carrying parts of nuclear weapons. This would have caused an actual existential threat to humanity. Because bozos like this lobbying that these chatbots are machine gods make people rely on them.

People like me with decades jn the field PHD, papers that changed policy, shipped products, etc are the ones who don’t have a clue about it folks. The pundits citing l”thousands of leas-wrong posts” as evidence on the other hand are experts 😂
Replying to @timnitGebru
The problem is that people like you, who obviously have no clue about AI and what this technology can do or how it works, shape part of the global discourse, thus distracting from the main problem for humanity, which is AGI/ASI control/alignment.

We are in a massive anthropomorphic AI delusion cultivated by bad actors who want market share / capture & control. AI cannot and will not ever have its own volition. The only thing that needs to be regulated are the humans using it for control.

New preprint from me: 'Beyond AI: Infrastructuring the Common Good'. The paper treats AI as diagnostic of deeper contradictions, and argues that convivial practice can reclaim vital systems from the collapse of the technopolitical regime. doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22276…

Fisher/Jameson said "It's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism". And yet, that act of imagining alternatives is urgent; if AI tells us nothing else, it tells us that capitalism is actively imagining the end of us.

THIS
People who thought superintelligent machines were near just didn't understand the fundamentals well enough. They didn't think deeply about the nature of intelligence. They confused movie AI with current systems, when in actual fact, AI is still far from being intelligent.

They've built a screwing-things-up-at-scale-machine which baits us with imitation conversations and still all they can offer by way of explanation is 'hints of AGI' hogwash. None of these companies can be trusted to talk straight or clean up the mess.
You may have been told to watch this video about the OpenAI AI hack. You really should, even if you don't usually care about tech stuff. If nothing else, click this link to the 18 minutes in & see how the agents spoke with each other. Its eye opening. youtu.be/87DyyMV0kCY?si=DMfq…

Hyperscalers: "We're investing more than $1 trillion in AI capital investment". Smug AI adopter: "I'm completely in charge, I just use it for brainstorming ideas". AI isn't a consumer toy, it's a push for systemic transformation that amps up alienation and climate harm.☣️

this is the real reason people from OpenAI etc are desperate to shut me up. Astra (which didn’t even have a control group and is maybe not that much better than Fable and certainly not ASI) was perhaps a play to distract from their increasingly terrible economics. in short, they were bluffing, and I called their bluff.
Few understand the ramifications of this simple claim, which I agree with All that hyperscaler revenue that's supposedly justifying trillions in capex? All of it traces back to compute demand from OpenAI and Anthropic So, what happens when OpenAI and Anthropic start losing share to lower-cost Chinese models? The entire AI supply chain, from hyperscalers to chip suppliers and everything in between, gets smoked as demand evaporates overnight.

What we have reached is not the Singularity. It’s the Insularity. I don’t expect it to end well.
All foreign countries. Not just China. This is decel protectionism.

Today, we announced that GPTZero is joining Superhuman. We founded GPTZero with the goal of preserving what’s human on the internet and we’re excited to take that even further with this partnership. Together, we’re building an authenticity layer that travels with you, wherever you read, write, and create.

As media opinion increasingly tries to discredit data centre opposition for being reactionary populism, it's important for campaigns to squash any possible far right infiltration by explicitly declaring themselves as anti-racist and anti-fascist.
