noticed something interesting in some of Apple's automated emails regarding Apple IDs. they seem to contain the OBJ character (U+FFFC) at the beginning of the email. not sure if this is intentional or an error. (and yes - this is a real email!)
an email with subject "Reset your password or unlock your Apple ID", from appleid@id.apple.com, with the OBJ character (U+FFFC) at the beginning of the email.

this interface takes me back so much... one of the first Mac OS X versions i used. glad to have it working in a VM now for me to go back and use now and then. finally getting back into my vintage Apple hobby and i'm so glad!
a screenshot i took of a Mac OS X Tiger VM in UTM. the only window open is Finder.

some late-night fun with Mac OS X Public Beta. i have this running on actual hardware (Power Mac G3) but decided i'd also start up an instance in UTM for fun. takes me back to see that menu bar layout and Finder - anyone remember the "Special" menu and "Late-Breaking News"?
a screenshot of Mac OS X Public Beta (Build 1H39) running in UTM on my M1 MacBook Pro. to the left is a window with the old "Late-Breaking News" Mac Help documentation, in the middle is a Finder window with the old layout, and in front of that is an AppleScript dialog saying "Hello from Mac OS X Public Beta!". to the right is the "About This Mac" dialog.
