If you listen to anyone this morning, let it be Gideon Levy. A phenomenal Israeli journalist who has been speaking truth to power for decades. Share his words. Far and Wide.

So excited that this book is coming out, many incredible contributors. My chapter is about collecting stuff that people throw away, and how the magic in this teaches us about our surroundings

Public libraries are the original social medicine hubs. They are open/part of the relief network for cooling in this heatwave — another reason we need to fund our libraries.
Did you know we’re part of the @cityoftoronto’s Heat Relief Network? Come into any of our 100 branches during opening hours to beat the heat. 👇

It was great to have a panel on the future of African studies in Europe with actual Africans on the panel at #ecas2023. If they were European, the answer would have been of course there's a future because our careers and privileges depend on it. #restitution

What visa assistance did #ecas2023 provide to African students and scholars? Organizers please be very specific about exactly what help was given. Also, what attempts to include those who couldn't travel via hybrid technology which we are all used to anyway? #restitution

How many African students and scholars were funded to attend #ecas2023? How many global north scholars were funded to attend? 1/4 Africans present is not even close to good enough. Budget transparency for these events an NB part of #restitution

@FlySWISS Next was two hostesses talking at the top of their voices in the middle of the night while everyone tried to sleep. They were seated right next to the curtain by my seat showing no regard for customers despite having a lot more space they could use further back.

@FlySWISS after trying to ignore them talking loudly, looking at an IPad and laughing, I eventually asked if they could please keep it down a tiny bit. They responded sarcastically that they would try "a tiny bit" and then talked even more loudly for several hours.

There's still a dearth of Test hundreds in the South African camp that's not the only issue in the batting line-up. Only three of the top seven are secure in the roles and only, Temba Bavuma, averages over 50 in the last 15 months. espncricinfo.com/story/the-t… #NZvSA #cricket
