How you personally view AI is a portal into your soul. AI could bring promise. Or it could bring peril. You can use it for good. Or you could use it for bad. The reality is that AI will be what we make of it.

Probably will get in trouble for this very early previewβ€”but its too good. Future in Sigma is vibe code real business apps and have them secure by default AS YOU BUILD.

Never underestimate an A+ sales org (@sigmacomputing has one, btw) I say this because the vendor I'm trying to get a hold of -- literally one of the largest companies in the world -- I can't even get them to connect me with an enterprise sales rep. I would have spent money with them, but alas, they don't want it.

if you see someone with an hour on their calendar open you should definitely not schedule the meeting on the :15 thinking its better. Cram the meeting and leave the larger space.

I deployed a CMO agent across my data andβ€”in classic CMO formβ€”the first thing it went and did was complain about attribution

Off and running on Q3 today. Snuck in a "quick" run from 7:30-9:00, then "in the gym" as my daughter read books this AM. So much to go build. Shout out to our head of eng, who gives me plenty of budget to build the systems that let our marketing team punch above its weight.

Sigma has this very ugly button that our UX/UI team didn't love because: 1. Not on brand 2. Poorly labelled CTA 3. Duplicate CTAs 4. Multiple CTAs But lots of testing showed ugly green button drives 40%+ (!!!!!) more activation than the on-brand button. Get Started actually goes to request a demo (I won't get into the why on this thread) --> GIANT uplift Duplicate CTAs (Get Started & Request a demo) --> 10%+ uplift (on top of the color bits) Multiple CTAs --> 30%+ increase in the overall volume of quality form fills, AKA not students. But because we have the data, it lives. ... and yes ugly green button really did that much uplift.

Right now, Claude is about as good as some of the worst employees I've had on my teams. Constantly short-cutting tasks. Constantly creating AI slop. Only takes exactly what I say and solves that problem. Doesn't research problems back to their core.

Founder mode is just leading from the front. If you are not leading from the front, you are not leading. If you are not leading what are you even doing.

Me: (working 85 hours a week, trying to find every way to generate leads) Design: but what about a website with dark mode?

Used Claude to start tracking hours worked... I've been running at this level my entire career. I just never stopped to check the numbers. Successful outcomes require a heavy-calorie work diet and a little bit of right-place-right-time.

99th percentile AI marketing...
Trying to get the favicon to look right for something: "Corners are gone, but is it possible to get the navies to match?" Claude: "Philosophising… (30m 30s Β· ↓ 72k tokens)" 😭

... for context I personally see it as the cost of figuring out how to automate marketing. Sometimes the model nails it. Sometimes it philosophizes for half an hour. As long as you are in the details without those details occupying your brain space

I have 3 roles open for my team. I want people who show a large locus of control. And I review EVERY resume. I read every line. I look at all the work samples... How else do you find A-players? I require a resume, cover letter, and work samples. Resumes are a default. Cover letters today are now cheap, so they shouldn't be hard. In the cover letter, I want to hear their point of view on how the role should operate, provide color to their career journey, and talk about big career goals (virtually no one does any of this). Work samples because it shows the quality. Here's how its going... Head of Business Value Services: Nearly every candidate is providing everything, but cover letters are lacking. Good news, they all mostly know how to position value Head of Growth, Social: This is a role that's really about social and our Sigma Public platform and how this is a flywheel for Sigma's growth. Two camps here: growth marketers who don't read the job description... unsurprisingly, they rarely fill out all the details of the submission. And social-focused marketers. They do almost all the steps, they are generally very approachable in their cover letters... but have been missing the perspective that ties the efforts back to company growth. Marketing Engineer: All over the place. Generally terrible. Don't look at requirements. So hard to find the right people for a 50/50 role around building/automating with agents and data work. Overall, about 1000 resumes reviewed... BVS role looking good, deep pool to work with. Growth/Social, still looking for the person who gets it. Marketing Engineer... still at square one.

This week I was asked why I work at Sigma... particularly because it would be expected that as a former founder, I'd just start another business. My answer, of course, is the people. The people here are incredibly entrepreneurial-minded. Sigma might not get the attention of other darlings in tech, but I'd put this team head-to-head against anyone. They are the type of people I'll bring along to my next venture (whenever that ever happens)... or maybe I'll follow them.
