So, lots of big corps yapping about their WAF mitigations for php2shell, great. BUT is anyone gonna address with the root cause? The PHP Foundation are a critical dependency and need a truckload of cash and/or tokens.

JSON is good for humans debugging, but no so great for throughput and size. With the former becoming less important, we made a switch.
We just dropped JSON in favor of binary serialization across all our cache systems at Appwrite, resulting in up to 69% less memory consumption, 29% higher RPS, and a 22% reduction in request latency. @lukebsilver shared more on our blog: appwrite.io/blog/post/faster…

Grafana archived OnCall back in March. The repo has 300+ vulnerabilites. Apwrrite is using OnCall extensively, so we went ahead and fixed those issues. We'll be maintaining the fork for as long as it makes sense github.com/appwrite/grafana-…

The only advantage human SWEs have over the current crop of LLMs is that we learn.
Autonomy isn't the ability to act without human supervision. It's the ability to *learn* without human bottlenecks in the process. A system that is fully dependent on human training data and RL environments is only an imprint of human knowledge.

To whom it may concern, Due to recent industry events, it’s important for us to clarify Appwrite Sites does not use your data to train AI models, nor will it ever sell your data to any third party for AI training or for any other purpose. Your data and your intellectual property are yours to own.

The essence of great software is the quality of its abstractions. Great abstractions are indefinitely composable and stackable. They become a dependable foundation for future work, future thought. The best ones are so robust you never have to revisit them -- you can forget them and build forward without ever looking back. Achieving this is the greatest productivity hack in software engineering. Because the greatest productivity drain is backtracking.

Developers have been looking for a serious alternative to Vercel - and it shows. After nearly a year of building, Appwrite Sites has been live for just three months and is already hosting over 55,000 websites(!) - growing by more than 1,000 new sites every day (!) This is absolute madness. 🤯

if you ever find yourself doubting the value of domain expertise, get a bunch of smart generalists together and have them try to solve a difficult chess puzzle when you lack domain knowledge, your most creative insight is an expert's first glance
nothing will blackpill you on first-principles slop more than spending a few years developing expertise in a field and then watching IQ130+ laypeople start opining during some hype cycle if the boomers will be vindicated on one thing it's their cult of domain experience

I'm using more agents than any of you. No matter how much you're using agents, I have a few more going at any given time. You're about to get left behind btw.

Everythingism. The belief that every policy is a means for promoting every other policy, all at the same time. Everythingism it’s why nothing works. Defeating Everythingism is the only way we can start to fix everything. This essay explains how.

There's a new kind of coding I call "vibe coding", where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists. It's possible because the LLMs (e.g. Cursor Composer w Sonnet) are getting too good. Also I just talk to Composer with SuperWhisper so I barely even touch the keyboard. I ask for the dumbest things like "decrease the padding on the sidebar by half" because I'm too lazy to find it. I "Accept All" always, I don't read the diffs anymore. When I get error messages I just copy paste them in with no comment, usually that fixes it. The code grows beyond my usual comprehension, I'd have to really read through it for a while. Sometimes the LLMs can't fix a bug so I just work around it or ask for random changes until it goes away. It's not too bad for throwaway weekend projects, but still quite amusing. I'm building a project or webapp, but it's not really coding - I just see stuff, say stuff, run stuff, and copy paste stuff, and it mostly works.

The leap from o1 to o3 is exponential, completely bypassing o2. If this pattern holds, o3 won’t lead to o4—it’ll jump straight to o9.

No phrase in the UK papers is more irritating than "U-turn", used disparagingly, as if changing your mind based on new information is a sign of weakness. Anyone who's worked in a functional organisation knows that changing your mind is a positive signal - you're growing.

Broke: waiting in line for 20 minutes to crowd into the Sky Lounge. Woke: grabbing McDonald’s by the gate and chilling. Bespoke: Posting up at the obscure cafe/bar at the end of the terminal and flaneuring til your flight.

Recommendation: City Planner Plays is my YouTube guilty pleasure. I don't even play Cities Skylines, but his videos weaving practical city planning knowledge and fictional city story lines are super watchable.
