Today @Ghost crossed $10M ARR, as a bootstrapped non-profit foundation building open source software.
Indie publisher revenue earned with Ghost now ~$130M, and accelerating.
The world of technology is shifting rapidly, and so is the world of media, creators and journalism. It's hard to keep up with, and even harder to predict.
My strong belief, though, is that open software that you own and control is going to be even more important and relevant in the future than it is now.
So we're going to keep building it.
Just announced a new Paper Jam! On Dec 19 3pm UTC we'll discuss "From Anecdote to Evidence: The Relationship Between Personality and Need for Cognition of Developers". It brings together my interests in software engineering and psychology. 😊

Google search is broken.
Social algorithms suppress links.
Finding good independent writing online has never been harder.
We built something to fix that: 🌍

November's Paper Jam was about using psychological research to influence the behavior of LLMs — super fascinating topic that makes me want to do some more research in my spare time.

Tangle is an wonderful example of a sustainable modern media business that's doing things right, winning both admiration and respect.
Congrats on hitting $3M ARR!
With trust in mainstream media at an all-time low and so many media orgs struggling to keep their lights on, @TangleNews has had the best few months in our company's 5+ years in existence.
Today: 340,000+ newsletter subs, $3 million+ in sub revenue, a flourishing ad biz. Why?

This wildly misleading tweet, and the mostly hateful replies, is like entering an alternate version of reality.
If anybody is interested in the truth behind this claim, and what that Swedish poll actually asked, I'll go through it.
Probably banging my head against a wall. 😂
