Where, exactly, would this 245 year experiment in democracy be if France had not provided us with military support? Yes, I know there were no nukes then, but France risked devastation, nevertheless.

An excellent and timely quote from Dr. King as we honor his birthday. May his moral heirs ascend soon.
“Cowardice asks, is it safe? Expediency asks, is it politic? Vanity asks, is it popular? Conscience asks, is it right? There comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.” —Martin Luther King Jr.

No better place to spend my 67th year on this planet. Watch out "transfer-mation" into Transfer Nation. Our students define grit and resilience.
Today, OC employees gathered on campus to mark "All College Day." We thanked our campus' essential workers & exemplary employees, heard from inspiring alumni, & resolved to help OC students thrive this year. We're thrilled for classes to begin on Monday - see you soon! #Oxnard

I don't know of a more important or urgent topic. Every issue that divides us will be academic if we destroy this democratic republic in our strife and in our inability to reason together.
"Civics is at the heart of the struggle to define the meaning of the American idea," George Packer writes. Teaching civics could restore health to American democracy, or inflame our mutual antagonisms. on.theatln.tc/rjaZwjX

Noticeably, @CUNY schools do a great job at offering low-income students a path to economic success while earning a bachelor's degree. 2/5 Two-Year Schools 👇

There are many heroes at Oxnard College who have not withered in the face of this pandemic, but have doubled down on their support of our students. No one is more dedicated than Gaby, the heart and soul of our college. She is the perfect recipient of the first President's Award.
Congrats to Gaby Rodríguez for winning this year’s President’s Award – Condor of the Year! From organizing our drive-thru graduation to helping hungry students access groceries, Gaby has been the champion our students needed this year. Thanks for all you do, Gaby!

Thanks to the Wheelhouse Institute for another excellent opportunity to learn from prominent thought leaders in higher education.
TY @EduardoJPadron for the generosity of your reflections with the @UCDWheelhouse CEO network tonight. Worth remembering: "Talent is universal but opportunity is not." Which is why the @CalCommColleges and the strength of their leaders are so important.

From our friends in France, without whose help the American Revolution would have been lost, and to whom we owe appreciation for the Statue of Liberty. Let the bells of freedom.proclaim our joy this day.

Best of luck to our Republic today. May integrity and decency prevail by a landslide.

Always choose country over party, integrity over mendacity, thoughtfulness over bluster, decency over depravity. Vote early, vote for the future our kids deserve, vote as if our Republic is at stake, because it is.
Ted is a lifelong Republican, but he doesn't trust Donald Trump. He knows Biden has the experience and the compassion to lead us out of these uncertain times." "Country over party. The only way we can get our country back to the road of recovery is by voting for Joe Biden."

Adorable!!! ❤️ – at California, USA
This is what happens when @TheGentleBarn is closed to human guests. These 10-week-old puppies were given free reign to zip around the facility and the results are just what we need right now. 🥰 abc7.la/2SoPZyi
