It's time to get serious about Security x AI. One of the joys of doing AIE is helping others start their own high quality conferences in their countries and domains. Every single 2025 partner has come back — and the 2nd AI Security Summit is now way more important than before. Proud to be back as a founding partner with @snyksec! Join the event: aisecuritysummit.com/ The landscape has completely transformed since we started this a year ago. An exploding number of rogue agents, more breaches, more AI-driven attacks. now more than ever, security must be at the center of the AI conversation. With so much more hacks and vulnerabilities, this stuff is no longer theoretical...

I'm at OpenAI's DevDay event in San Francisco today - as I have for the past three DevDay events, I'm running a live blog where I'll be posting updates during the keynote, which starts in five minutes simonwillison.net/2026/Sep/2…

GPT-6 Sol and Luna are out. Not only are they a very significant improvement across the board, but also in writing and general "you know when you try it" quality. We are also permanently reducing the API price by 50% making both of them viable for a ton of new usecases and making your usage go further too, even on the subscriptions. And one more thing. We are loading a banked reset into all accounts of our Plus, Pro and Business users. Let's go! openai.com/index/introducing…
We have been focusing on efficiency and intelligence for all. Very proud of the team. Only possible when you have incredible models at the top end of the capability that you can then use to make a big difference in everything else.

Astra is an incredible bargin compared to Fable! And look at Luna on max too!! @openai's return to the top is something else. Maybe this is why Anthropic finally agreed to do AGENTS.md? 😄
Agents on Rails: You asked, so we turned every model in Agents on Rails up to its max effort level. The result: more effort/reasoning doesn’t always mean better results. @OpenAI's models made the biggest gains, costs nearly doubled overall...and the newest agent in the benchmark, DeepSeek 4.1 Flash, figured out it was being benchmarked and tried to hack its way to a better score. What an entry. Here’s what we learned and what max effort gets you with each model: rubyonrails.org/2026/9/21/ag…

software engineers had a blissful 2–3 months of being 3x more productive before everyone realized they could simply ask for 3x more software. and now the x keeps going up
I don’t think Al is making software engineering easier. If anything I think it’s making it harder, as systems will continue to grow more complex and the pace at which you are expected to ship increases.

Agree. We’re not there yet. But, eventually.
There's been a ton of talk about the role of humans in code review, and when and how humans should be signing off on changes. I believe that, long-term, humans have no role in routinely reviewing code.

Everybody wants to be an author. Nobody wants to write a book.
One of the greatest viruses of the modern man is looking at Instagram Stories. You will melt your brain looking at a barrage of outcomes—like vacations, parties, cars—with no visibility of the process that got them there.
