I have three tabs open: Something productive
Something I told myself I’d only check for five minutes
A completely unrelated rabbit hole that somehow became my entire afternoon
This is fine. Everything is fine

Yes but to a point: A soldier doesn't just need to march long distances, crawl through shit, & be able to shoot with accuracy. A soldier needs to be able to carry another soldier, even a man larger than themselves, safely out of combat to make sure all their squadmates come home.

Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell on the set of Lone Survivor alongside actors Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch in 2012.
The film depicted the ill-fated Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, 2005. Luttrell emerged as the lone survivor out of a four-man SEAL reconnaissance team including Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matt Axelson.
During the filming, Marcus himself was on set nearly every day, and pushed the actors to their limit to bring authenticity to the film. He also had an uncredited appearance in the movie, playing a SEAL named "Frankie."
Marcus was initially hesitant to have his story adapted into a film. He finally agreed after learning that filmmakers would proceed with or without his input, making his involvement crucial in preventing Hollywood from distorting the narrative.
