"Many detractors of smoking are still very active users of the cigarettes they supposedly hate."
The argument against platforms is precisely that for some users they are unable to exercise their agency to quit - it is a non-sequitor to claim that revealed pref trumps stated prefs
all too common coping mechanism
When stressed, this comb jelly reverts to a larval form, then matures again when favorable conditions return.

Ironic that "AI creators" are now literally mining the LLM latent space content mines to generate "content" for what is clearly being designed to be a streaming service, all while roped into the same platform dynamics as trad creators... only to have less rights and no clout.
Did Suno just KILL their AI Music Service????
This is really bad @suno
This new limit literally means that you can never download most of the songs you create!
Since you can not download them, you can't use them commercially either (apparently)!
You pay to create songs you can not use!!!
20 downloads per month is a total joke!!!
Will they charge users for more downloads?
Who owns the songs we don't download?
Please SHARE this as much as possible!!!!
Ironically it is precisely the distance from physically embodied performance of cont. "electronically produced music" that generates this tension - rappers are literally lip-syncing their own songs on IG live because of lack of auto tune. no one wants to watch knob twiddlers
I'm sympathetic to the overall "declinist" position sketched out by @elite_gz but I don't think artists should be "declinists" about the value of their artistic process and the craft/skill involved therein. Some artworks are valued because of the process of their creation!
But part of their praise is because of the process of and constraints in achieving their goals; some artistic practices are similar. We engage in many projects in our lives, many of which might not be completed - that doesn't mean the efforts involved are worthless.
It is a mistake to tether the value of the arts to the achievement of "impact" or "broad audience exposure"; an arts practice can be socially valuable even if no one is exposed to the process or even the results of that praxis.

Only shallow as the test track
🔊 These speakers go to 140 dB 🤘
Our European Service Module for Artemis III successfully passed its acoustic test at @NASAKennedy, proving it is ready to survive the intense vibrations from the rocket launch 🚀

ALT The service module for the Orion spacecraft - including ESA's European Service Module and its four solar arrays, plus the crew module adapter on top and the conical stage adapter on the bottom - in the middle of towers of speakers, ready to blast almost 140 dB at the spacecraft to ensure it can withstand the intense vibrations at launch.
Fundamental misunderstanding - art isn't valued because it can't be replicated by AI. It's valued because it is a communicative act achieved in certain ways.
Artistic value is a function of achieving artistically in socio-historically "sanctioned" ways.
Consider marathon runners; their achievement consists in *running* a specified distance - of course they could use other means, like a car or bike! but they wouldn't be praised for running a marathon in such cases. The achievement is predicated on fulfilling specific conditions
One month anniversary since Red more red came out on @DISPLAYseries . I try and explore some of the intentions behind the beginning of the project, returning to playing instruments, and this work's relationship to painting.
