"Copilot doesn't work with #WinForms."
Yeah? - Watch me prove you wrong. 🧵
Robert Green and I used the WinForms Expert Agent in #VisualStudio and also #Copilot CLI to build a live WinForms + EF Core 10 client for some old, old SQL Database on Visual Studio Toolbox - including one unscripted feature we genuinely didn't think would work.
ALFKI is back. 👇

I wrote a blog post recently about the #WinForms Expert Agent, which enables the design of UIs to be prompted. But it's a field story, about #Copilot and my 82-year-old Mom, who got sort of "stranded" at a customer. I got quite some reactions, many... devblogs.microsoft.com/dotne…
... many as personal messages. One, however - let's put it that way - moved me, and made me contemplate a lot. It was a real conversation. "Did you read it?" - "Tried 3 times." - "Tried? Too long, too boring?" - "No, I stopped 3x when it started to scare me too much".
About #AISlob... Two options, I've NEVER 😏 been affected by that. a) I am an excellent, extraordinary, perfect natural language prompter. b) My code is yet slobbier anyway, so I wouldn't notice. Q: When affected, how much was Slob mitigateable by improving your System Prompts?
Hey #WinForms Devs. Tell you something. So, my 82-year-old-Mom's Time Study software GPF'd (yes, she still does Consulting gigs occasionally) - at a customer! The plan: A new WinForms App as a quick Ersatz for the Time Recording. Could Copilot help? devblogs.microsoft.com/dotne…

We merged a C# 15 feature into .NET 11 preview 2: collection expression arguments.
Allows specifying creation arguments for a collection expression: `List<string> names = [with(capacity: 10), ... elements ...];`

Nice! Without having personally tested it - ComponentOne picking up/supporting #WinForms #DarkMode is really cool to see! Makes me happy, if we can further standardize it, because it's more than taste. It's really #A11Y!
The new ComponentOne maintenance release is live! Full .NET 10 support across WinForms, WPF, Blazor, WinUI & MAUI.
Bonus: WinForms dark mode is now built‑in. Want the details? Read the blog: bit.ly/4r13m6C

What's new in #WinForms for #visualstudio and #dotnet 10? Well, a lot! The best: WinForms is one of the first disciplines in VS which gets a dedicated context agent for Copilot! And we showed it at #dotnetconf on stage - live #vibecode 'd!

Finally, the video is published, and I get to sleep at 2:30 am. 😴
Probably an hour earlier than expected.
I hope y'all enjoy the video. See you tomorrow for day 2 of #dotNETConf.

When a Reddit thread about "reviving WinForms" pulls in 350+ comments, it tells you something.

The #ADHD cat is out of the sack. @MadsTorgersen and I talk about our journey "late ADHD diagnosis" - in Episode 1 of #SharpAndUnfiltered
youtu.be/bTsGKiuZwXA?si=Ky4S…
And we did a 2nd one - discussing issues like late tasks, anxiety, RSD, hyper- and not focusing, distractions...
What do @MadsTorgersen & I share
(besides a love for curly braces)?
Turns out, something that is a feature, not a bug.
And it's called ...👉 #ADHD.
In the pilot of #SharpAndUnfiltered, we talk the back and forth to clarity, symptoms, and superpowers.
