We are pivoting away from our Bitcoin-verified QR code functionality. In recent weeks, the debate on OP_RETURN is heating up and we have decided to side with the original vision of Satoshi - a peer-to-peer electronic payment system in the form of the soundest money the world has ever seen. Although our functionality respected the 80-byte limit imposed on the majority of nodes, the move by the Bitcoin Core team to completely remove the limit was a line in the sand that we do not support being changed. Perhaps, we should have never even used Bitcoin for verification - it was merely a nod to the most secure protocol out there. But by being an app utilizing OP_RETURN, we feel we are part of the problem at hand. For that, there is regret. Of course, the value of the type of data that users choose to include in OP_RETURN are completely subjective. We argue our use case may have been more important than others, but according to who? Us? At any rate, this should sort itself out. After all, this isn't a change to the consensus protocol or the base layer rules of Bitcoin. The free market will choose which nodes to use, and we see alternatives to Bitcoin Core like Knots and others gaining traction. For now, we will focus on our AiQArt functionality, and hope to one day dip our toes back into the Bitcoin ecosystem, perhaps with some L2 apps or wallets! Until then, LockChain Don't trust. Verify!
